The Tear stretches across the sky above and affects an entire stretch of the Mida Ocean. It is also the only visible phenomena in the night sky. There are no stars or moons. No one knows exactly what caused the tear; some say it was a powerful spell that went awry as a last-ditch effort to end the war. Others say that the Tear is a punishment from the gods.
It separates Kaldora from the main continent Ubros. Any travel between Kaldora and Ubros is near impossible with The Tear in the middle.
Whatever brave soul that made the trip and returned had wild stories about magical abominations and strange magic occurrences.
