The Sick Village

"I don't know why - I just like this place. I gthink we can have a good time, here. The land's fresh, there's plenty of nearby rivers, and we're just at the foot of the Wayfarer's Belt. We'll have plenty of people passing by. I think we'll name it Port Avuntar. For the Avuntar reef, of course. What do you say?"

- Lord Provost Adelard, before making his preparations on the construction of his new town.
Beelzebub, the Embodiment of Envy, had dozens of minute schemes all across Aitso. With his banishment, the demon had turned to many different avenues in order to gain more power. As the fiend resorts to the most diabolical of concepts to fuel his power, he resorted to suffering, decay, and depression. The lonely, the corrupted, and the woeful all fall under his domain. One of the other Embodiments, Azazel, feasts off of pride, and holds onto much greater schemes. Purely out of spite, Beelzebub had manipulated dozens into his schemes, changing their pride into disgusting amounts of envy. Azazel and Beelzebub are dire enemies, for many reasons - The Sick Village is simply another reason atop of dozens of others.
The Sick Village is a concept he had come up with. The horde of decaying people, all intertwined with his very being, on the surface of Aitso.
Each village that builds itself atop of Beelzebub's tendrils inevitably becomes abandoned, with corpses littering the streets. Once the settlement becomes populated enough, the fiend uses his limbs to burrow into the walls of the home. Many die to illnesses beyond mortal comprehension, from him, but plenty have become infected with spores and become carriers of new species, fungus having grown from their bodies. Some spew their innards - others meld into the ground itself. Very few can escape - but even if one does, it does not bode any issues for anyone they may run into. Beelzebub's disease is not infectious. It can not spread from any being other than Beelzebub himself.
One settlement that had been taken by Beelzebub was known as Port Avuntar, which was destined to be a town on the western tip of the mainland, which'd connect to the bottom of the Wayfarer's Belt. Lord Provost Adelard was eager to grow his city, and so the harbours that he had founded in this region would inevitably draw people into the Port Town.
The feast on Port Avuntar had caused thousands to die, and to become intertwined with Beelzebub's very being. The waters around the port were also affected, melding into toxic sludge. The small region is known as an ecological deadzone, but it is plausible that Plagueborn may be able to reside here, so long as they do not shed their masks.
