Kidney Petrification

"The horrors of petrification has developed into a fear of statues. Statues that should not be in places. There is a reason as to why people are terrified of the cities in Scylla, which are littered with stone depictions of people. It is not irrational - far from it. Petrification can leave a person alive, so long as their whole person is encased in stone, flesh and blood. When individual organs turn to stone, that is when the issues become much, much more dire,"

- Physician notes in field hospital, North Scylla.
Basilisk meat has been considered a luxury in the more volatile regions of Aitso. This has caused the many nobles across the continents to commission adventurers to hunt down Basilisks, in regions such as the Fresar Badlands, all to collect this valuable, delightful material that makes for a delicacy on dining tables. It is crucial to understand, however, that Basilisk meat must be held within moderation, and must not be consumed in great amounts, unless great issues will arise with its consumer. This is why a basilisk is considered an apex predator, at least for their natural habitats. In regions with creatures that are immune to magical disease, such as creatures with natural antimagic fields and mana-resistant biology, they can consume plenty of Basilisk meat, raw or cooked, whole or sliced, without fear of petrification of their individual organs. Whilst the organs affected are different for each species that has ever considered devouring a basilisk, the most common case observed within settlements and modern-day Aitso are wealthy humanoids, which makes Kidney Petrification a rather dreadful illness, which only occurs in those that are too stupid to understand it, or too overconfident into thinking that they are immune to such a condition.
