Imp Vanguard

"Imps are the most useless warriors we can find. They were small, slow, and rather dull-minded. However, they're strong, no? If you are going to have them fight for the legion, those soldiers of great skill, make them useful in some manner, any manner. The humans get tired, eventually, but demons? We linger on, and can fight for days. Eisheth alone had put up a fight for three whole months. Do you know what happened in those three months? The oldest dragon in Aitso had started a war, ended a war, and died. Not to mention a pantheon returning to our lands. Three months for a brat of a demoness. Samael must be so disappointed in her. Whilst they are no Eisheth, the imps can definitely hold off plenty of armies. Send them to the Sethliks, and they will bring down their necropolis. Bring them to Lyndewn, and they should wipe out the nomads and the nobles,"

- The Banestress, demonstrating the value of an army of imps.
Imps make for great fodder. They have little to do in their lives, being formed on Aitso through veins that are manifested by Sin Personifications, or other power demons. Rabid, manic foes, they are valued by necromancers, enchanters, and liches find them to be the greatest foot soldiers for their armies and fleets. They do not care for orders, which means they fit the chaotic dark lords and anarchists best. The imps rarely work in unison, so they are thrown into the front of war fronts, to charge forward. Their horrible vision means that they are not likely to attack their target. Some imps, in fact, are drawn to destroying property, more than the lives of their enemies. Some cities don't even classify them as enemies of their home, and instead pests. Demonologists and other monster hunters consider pest control as a last resort.
The imps are not proficient in much - other than ordinary tools and weapons that could be used by a mindless oaf. Their uncertainty is their strength, however, as there are little forms to defeating them in direct combat, as they are known for adapting to the enemy's greatest strengths. Large giants who sweep their weapons to destroy hundreds of imps at once are met with imps that have the capacity to scatter and fight the giant from a distance. They are not strategic, by any means, but if the matter calls for it, then the imps are capable of changing their plans from 'wrecking havoc' to simply surviving.
