Galahad's Imperial Knights

"Lancelot's Lords of the Isles were strong, yes. They were powerful, eloquent, and, yes, capable of ruling. Although, we saw the manic brute of Kral Artus. The scheming of Ector de Brias. We had even seen one of our own, Degore, attack our coalition in the name of Lancelittle, whom he knew to be a boy. This shows to us, that no longer shall we rely on these brutes to lead us. We need people that are capable for the job itself, and not just mindless warriors. We will not have our own turn against us,"

 - Lord Galahad, Regent King of the Thevagon Isles, giving his speech to his first Imperial Knights.

Galahad was a different king from Lancelot. His work as regent King had been for the betterment of all, not just the people of his kingdom. Lancelot was a man who had resorted to promoting his close friends to valuable positions based off of his closeness to them. Being a Lord of the Isle meant that you were close to Lancelot, not that you were a valuable, trustworthy person. The title was bestowed to people as an act of affection, rather than out of necessity to the kingdom. There were eleven other Lord of the Isles, without including Lancelot himself, and in comparison, Galahad has only given the title of Imperial Knight to five warriors under his command.
The simple fact about the rank of Imperial Knight, is that Galahad made it for a selected few. Only those that proved to both be a valuable soldier and a loyal person of kindness to the kingdom and its people were given this rank. Whilst Galahad had originally planned for somebody as strong as Kral Artus to join the ranks, a former Lord of the Isle who had turned against the Lancein war effort against the coalition, he was advised against this decision. Kral had proven himself to be wreckless, and had little care for the title itself. Truthfully, Kral Artus was a combatant who enjoyed the glory of fighting - rather than the diplomacy of being a Lord of the Isle. They mutually decided to not have Kral be a new Imperial Knight.
