Controlling Corruption
"Make sure that there's plenty of flies near your slums. Lest the Spider comes out to play,"Corruption is a common sight in the Citadel. Having been swarmed by plenty of dark foes and monsters, the idea of disease being caused by a virus, rather than a curse, was unheard of. Foul monsters lingered in the Citadel. Beasts and men were one of the same. Those that were safe from the curses were no different, prone to rages, frenzies, and violent outbrusts - no matter if they were of the slums of the citadel, or their ivory towers. Dozens of conditions linger in the citadel, all with their own horrific and vile symptoms. One was suggested to be known as 'Controlling Corruption', and was believed to be tied to Mandias, a being that existed in Ixiamant. Ixiamant, a place of magical origin and capacity, was Mandias home. Controlling Corruption first originated from the student halls of Ixiamant, and their nature had meant that the masses believed that Mandias had cast a spell on his students. Instead, it was his malformed children, devotees that had warped their bodies to better represent Mandias. Whenever they'd die in the streets of the Citadael, rather than the shackled home of Oldir Lake.
- Karl Myers, reciting a simple phrase that alerts others to the Controlling Corruption.
The corruption, itself, is characterised as arachnid limbs and features taking over the host's body. Doctor Pinevalley, a Plagueborn who runs a private clinic, was the first to find out that a virus had caused this, not a curse from Mandias, Dean of the Citadel . A cadaver from the streets, one that had been covered in tattoos of webs and spiders, had been swelling with blood. When it had made contact with a low-life merchant, he had burst into a carrier of the Corruption.
