Midges, a form of insect found all across Aitso and other planets, are known for being one of the most despised pests in all of existence. A small fly, that constantly irritates anyone it finds, and drains them of their blood, leaving behind small lumps which itch and ache. They can spread diseases, especially in more volatile regions, such as Lydgartha and the Thevagon Isles. They are tiny, often being mere millimeters in size, or even smaller, and exist in swarms, only. Thousands of these pests linger in the air, searching for something to bite onto, and sap the life out of. Usually, these insects thrive off of blood, meaning that humans and large mammals are their preferred targets, due to the need of blood in order to reproduce. Humans are seen as the most common target, followed by other sentient races, and then livestock, followed by wild animals such as reptiles and aquatic mammals. These insects thrive off of blood, and whilst only female midges sap the blood from other creatures, they actively go out of their way for more blood. This has made Midges a universally hated species. There's no culture, race, species, or beast that likes this ilk.
