Dravéthis Ignara
Hailing from the south of the Elythran continent, the Dravéthis Ignara belong to a species known for their inhuman height, lanky limbs, otherworldly grace, and pointed, upturned ears. Split into four subspecies, the Dravéthis Ignara (or Ignara for the sake of time) inhabit the desert regions of the south and feel most at home basking in the intense heat and sunshine of their ancestral home. Much like their explosive attitudes, their spirits are connected to the element fire, and all can manipulate it to some degree. Some can only use a naturally occurring source of fire, while others are able to use an object called an anchor to pull from the Wellspring. Some, however, can do much, much more than that.
Among the Dravéthis, those born with the rare and revered gift to wield fire from the unseen Wellspring—a boundless source of elemental flame-are known as the Dyan'li. This power is not learned, but inherited by fate, marked from birth by an inner connection to the primal force of fire itself. To signify their sacred status, every Dyan'li bears a tattoo etched in crimson ink, drawn across the left side of the face. The design is unique to each individual but always contains the same core elements: their name written in tiny font telling of their lineage, a ring on the temple visualizing the circle of life and death, and delicate runes that shimmer faintly when they channel their power. This mark is not merely symbolic; it is alive, reacting subtly to the Dyan'li’s emotional state-glowing brighter in anger, pulsing in times of danger, and dimming when their fire lies dormant.
Due to the presence of magic and religion, the culture of the Ignara elevated those who were Dyan'li. Though tribal and often violent, most parties of Ignara recognized and respected the Dyan'li, typically sparing them whenever tribes would raid, slaughter, and enslave neighboring villages.

Coming of Age Rites
At the age of maturity (around 16–18), an Ignara must participate in an ancient ritual known as The Seal. It involves traveling alone through the desert in search of an oasis. Since the Dravéthis are tribal people from a hostile desert habitat, an oasis could mean the difference between prosperity or ruin. Not many reach the age of maturity and even less manage to find themselves something as rare as an oasis, so success isn't typical. When one does find the holy grail of desert survival, they reveal the location to their tribe and receive the chance at something similar to an apprenticeship. Tribal elders who are specialized in a specific field- like fire priest, warrior, or leatherworker- will choose whether or not to accept the new adult as their apprentice. This time is also when the newest adult member will begin honing their skills with elemental magic.
Upon completion of The Seal by a Dyan'li, that individual is granted a Flame Title, a secret title whispered into a cold fireplace. Once the name is whispered, nobody can relite the fire in the specific spot. It is thought the Ignara do this to honor the new Dyan'li. Desecrating the cold fireplace was seen as forgetting or dishonoring the Dyan'li. Only other Dyan'li may know another's flame title. Outsiders or non Dyan'li who learn or speak a Flame Title are considered cursed and often are sacrificed to restore secrecy and balance.
Common Taboos
Never extinguish a flame with breath. It is seen as dishonoring the flame spirit, since nothing as weak as wind should blow out fire- the most powerful element.
Dyan'li must not kill with a weapon not forged in fire created by another Dyan'li. Therefore, due to the rarity of Dyan''li and weapons created by their fire, Dyan'li rarely kill others.
Outsiders or non Dyan'li must not know a Dyan'li's Flame Title.
