Havere Chapter 2, Session 7: Legal Troubles, Again

14th of Tsuki 4824   The party wakes up to a cold blizzard day. The cold is difficult to keep out of the Maison, but their adopted grandmother makes oatmeal and coffee for the group. A firm knock interrupts their breakfast. Carnival finds that a whole platoon of Harbor Watchmen are there to arrest him and Murgan on two charges: transit of illicit goods and aiding enemies of the crown.   Morgan wants to fight the guards, but is talked down as the Watchmen surround Le Maison and prepare for battle. Carnival and Murgan go are arrested, questioned and imprisoned. They learn that there was an eye witness at the drug deal that places a Half-Orc working with a Silver Dragonborn (an unusual and rare combination in Havere) on the party of the sellers.   Meanwhile the rest of the party scour the city and reach out to all of their contacts for help. They meet with the most renowned law man in the city, Maurice Dumas, and hire him to start paper work to frustrate the legal proceedings as well as pull strings to make Carnival and Murgan's stay in jail more comfortable. They meet with Dana who offers to send The Black Heart assassins to kill Carnival and Murgan so they can't talk. The party declines. Finally, they meet with Lileth Andelval who because of her station cannot do much to stall the legal process. She scolds Morgan and the others and says that this is a lesson in not following the law.   The party doesn't make it in time for visiting hours to see Carnival or Murgan. However, Maurice Dumas their new lawyer does and makes sure that they are both comfortable in their jail cells.   15th of Tsuki 4824   Shortly after midnight, quakes and and screams shake the city. When the party wakes up they realize that Havere IS UNDER ATTACK! The Kracken has appeared in the harbor and is unleashing lightning and havoc on the Harbor District. Carnival observes boats coming up from the depths of the sea then launching smaller vessels making their way to shore. Those in the Maison grab their horses and make their way to the harbor.   Carnival is miraculously broken free by an errant boulder that crashes through the jailhouse. He escapes out of the new port in his jail cell to the outside and sneaks around the city guards and invaders to try to find a way out.   The main group find Carnival and are attacked by a small platoon of sea-twisted humanoids. After dispatching the monsters they head to the shore to see if they can get a better view of the destruction of the city and make their next move. When they get to the water, they realize they are dangerously close to the Kraken.   End Session
