Basic Information
Anatomy
Dragons have six limbs: two front legs, two back legs, and a pair of wings. Dragons vary greatly in size, with fay dragons being around four feet tall, to the huge air dragons which are often bigger than blue whales.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dragons lay eggs, usually in clutches of two or three, although four or even five have been known to happen. The eggs may take from two to ten years to hatch, depending on the safety of their surroundings. Dragons normally only lay one or two clutches of eggs in their lifetime, though some will lay up to four. Dragons only have one element, even if their parents belong to two different elements. They may, however, have physical traits from both parents. This means that a fire dragon with an air dragon parent may be a fire dragon that looks rather like an air dragon. This, however, is rare.
Growth Rate & Stages
Because dragons spend so long in an egg, when they hatch, they rapidly grow and mature. They reach mental maturity around thirty years of age, though they are not fully considered adults until fifty, when they reach reproductive maturity. Physically, a dragon may continue to grow throughout its life, though after fifty the growth rate slows considerably.
Ecology and Habitats
Each dragon subspecies has its own preferred environment. Most dragons live in small groups. The larger the dragon, the more likely it is to live with a smaller group or by itself.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Dragons are mainly carnivores, though they will occasionally eat plants. While some subspecies may be massive, dragons have an incredibly efficient metabolism, so they do not need to eat too much. They carefully protect their food sources, only picking off old and weak animals. In general they do not store their food.

Courtship Ideals
Dragon courtship is long and complex. It begins with gift giving. If the opposite party accepts the gift, then the dragons are considered to be courting, and no other dragon can interfere. After spending time together, the dragons may choose to live together if they deem each other good partners.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
All dragons speak Draconian. The fay dragons have their own language based on body language and scents, something no other dragon can follow. The fire dragons of the desert, due to their isolation, have developed a strong accent and many words relating to the desert and not used by other dragons.
Common Dress Code
While dragons do not wear clothing, they will adorn themselves with pieces from their hoard to show what they strive for.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Dragons generally do not interact with other intelligent species except to preserve a world balance only they seem to be able to sense. They respect the other species, but view them as lesser and prone to error.
