The Red Mist

Drifting through the ruins of the Violent Sorrow, the Red Mist is more than a mere atmospheric phenomenon—it is a curse, a weapon, and a lingering wound upon Dum Ramil. Any who breathe it in are seized by a mad, bloodthirsty rage, their minds reduced to primal violence. None are spared from its touch, and those who enter its domain must do so with caution, or not at all.

The Birth of Madness

The origins of the Red Mist are not entirely known, though it is widely believed to be a consequence of Ragon’s sealing. Whether it was a curse laid upon the city or a byproduct of an ancient battle, none can say. What is certain is that since that day, the mist has never fully lifted. It lingers, creeping through the ruins like a silent predator, waiting for its next victim.

Effects of the Mist

The Red Mist does not kill outright but instead corrupts the mind, stripping those who inhale it of reason and restraint. The first breath sends victims into a violent frenzy, lashing out at anything nearby, even allies. As exposure continues, their thoughts erode further until only murderous instinct remains, leaving behind nothing but raw, uncontrollable aggression. For some, the effects are temporary, fading after they escape the mist’s grasp. Others are not so fortunate; their minds never recover, their willpower permanently shattered, leaving them forever lost to the madness.

A Weapon in the Wrong Hands

Though feared by most, the cult lurking within the Violent Sorrow sees the Red Mist as a sacred tool of destruction. They use it in their rituals and in battle, embracing its madness, believing that through its chaos, Ragon’s power will rise again.

No Cure, Only Escape

There is no known way to resist or cure the mist—only avoiding it entirely can guarantee safety. Some wear masks soaked in alchemical compounds, while others rely on protective wards and incantations. Yet, no method is perfect, and the Red Mist has claimed more souls than any sword.

To step into the mist is to gamble with fate. And fate rarely shows mercy.

"Steel rusts. Walls crumble. But the Red Mist endures. And so does the madness it brings."
