Greater Dragons

Greater Dragons are beasts of great power and size, each one nearing divinity in raw strength. Each is a creation of the world itself, a knot of primordial essence forged into a single being. There are only six dragons in the world, and each is a legend that has endured for centuries. They have the strength and will to change the course of history, and the mortals they thread on are near powerless to stop them. Even so, Dragons are intelligent and knowledgable beyond measure of mortals, and aren't necessarily hostile. Every dragon has their own goals and history, and their own way to interact with the squabbling ants beneath their claws.

Dragons are immense, four-legged reptiles - most but not all blessed with wings blot out the sun. Even the smallest of them towers over castles, with the strength to crush walls and armored knights with ease. Beyond that basic similarity, every Dragon has their own form, changing as they age. Unlike mortals, Dragons are beings of essence and twist magic around them as easy as breathing. When brute force isn't enough - and it usually is - Dragons can unleash powerful sorcery and breathe raw elemental fury on their foes.

To mortals, the Dragons may as well be gods and are often worshipped as such. Across Lagash, cults of the great dragons sprout up in praise of one or more oft he Dragons, attempting to ward off their hunger with sacrifice and praise. Precious few have even earned the favor of one of the Dragons; a feat that almost certainly promises them a place in history, whether they want to or not.Their appearances into mortal life have been, thankfully, rare... But that has begun to change. As the Wheel of Ages turn again, the Greater Dragons are stirring. No matter what it is, when the Dragons turn their gaze on Lagash's mortals, the world will soon change.

Greater Dragons don't have names, not as mortalkind know of them. They are referred to by their color, or various manmade honorifics, with no promise they will answer to them. The Dragons of Lagash are:

The Red

Also known as the Bloody, the Red is a being of fire and fury. His breath can turn metal to slag and melt stone, and his mere presence is enough to make any fire burst out of control. For all that, the Red is one of the Dragons with the most extensive contact with mortalkind... For good and bad.

The Green

The Green is a channel of life and overabundance, of growth unchecked. They are believed to be the sire of several kinds of monsters and other beasts, either by design or accident. At best, they are indifferent to mortals, obsessed with its own, unknowable pursuits.

The Blue

The scourge of the oceans and the oldest of the Dragons, the Blue is a titan beyond all other Dragons. Sometimes known as the sea-serpent, the many-headed Blue has chosen to live entirely beneath the waves, rising only to consume costal villages or smash ships that annoy it.

The White

Born of thunder and lightning, the White is the youngest of the Greater Dragons. Its precessor fell in battle against mortals, and it has now reincarnated into a new form. It is the smallest of the Dragons, and most reckless. It lives within lightning storms, always flying from one place to another - to see it is a ill omen.

The Grey

The wingless Grey lives deep inside the earth, creating its own kingdom of broken dungeons. It wages a relentless war against the cancerous spread of the more dangerous dungeon, taking breaks only to rest or occasionally rise to the surface to see how the world has changed in its absence.

The Black

Darkness made manifest, the Black hunts Horrors for sport and to eat. Though it looks like the most dangerous devil and it certainly has no love for mortals, its choice of snack often mean that its appearance prevents greater terrors. It is associated with and sometimes ally with Demons, pursuing similar prey.
