Mountain Tombs
Many lowlanders would claim that these were made by Nords, or worse yet, made in imitation of the barbarians of Skyrim and their Reachkin. Though could it not be any farther from the truth! Ancient runes of Breton sorcery and the great reaper of Life; Arkay, protect the honored dead within these richly decorated halls of rest from malicious influence. Hill tombs are often erected by families, and therefore some of them were expanded further and further into great complexes of mourning and remembrance, with generations of relatives laid to sanctified rest under the Mountain. Often they are maintained by a chosen member of the household, employed tomb keepers, or as a family effort. Often these tombs are off-limits to those who are not of the respective family unless invited to visit it for whichever purpose.Effigies
As brave as the men and women of Coldbarrow are in the midst of battle, as often is a life lost without a body to retrieve. In such a case an effigy is made in honor of the passed. Those effigies differ greatly, for they are made in personal preference. Some people chose to create them in an abstract way, some attach worldly belongings of their dead to the totem, and others try and recreate their dead as best as possible, and even hire professional effigy makers.
A consensus on what to do with these effigies also does not exist. Some burn them in hopes to alert the Aetherius of the coming of their kin, and some add them to their family's mountain tombs, or a public tomb if their family is not wealthy enough to afford their own grave. Desecration or tampering with those effigies, unless in consent of their 'owner' is severely punished as an affront to Arkay himself.
