Maulo

On the country Quina, there lies one particular landmark that's changed for the worse: a small village by the name of Maulo.

The plant life flourishes here from the fertile ground, but nobody's around to make good use of it. Seated around a volcano that's been inactive for thousands of years, it's unknown why no life inhabits this area. There are rumors of a roar able to be heard if one stays absolutely silent, but nobody's been able to confirm this.

Demographics

It's thought long ago that the population here was comprised of mostly half-orcs and dwarves. Judging by stone relics that have been recovered, it's mostly confirmed that dwarves did indeed once inhabit this area, as there are Maulon descendants scattered across the continent. This is how the concept of orc-dwarves came to be.

Defences

It appears that the half-orcs were responsible for most of the protection, taking note of the ways the dwarves weaved in carvings into their creations and mimicking that. You can see many inscriptions in the orc language carved into the walls surrounding the village.

Industry & Trade

It's known that Maulons had a strong affinity for fruit and the meat of the lamb that roamed around this area. Scraps of what appeared to be rotting food were found in the makeshift storage units.

Infrastructure

One of the most notable things about Maulo is the winding stone staircase that led up to the top of the volcano. As one wanders up the staircase, the heat noticeably grows, so it's advised that protection be used.

History

Most of Maulo's history is unknown, but it's known that the settlement began about a hundred years after the volcano had turned inactive. The half-orcs were the ones that had lived here originally before a group of dilus-dwarves moved in and joined them. With the protection from their larger allies, Maulo went from being a rather primitive tribe to a steadily growing village. It's unknown why the village was abandoned.

Geography

Maulo is centered around a massive inactive volcano and littered with overgrown plants. The leaves around the volcano are so large that a gnome would be able to pick one of them up and use it as a shield from the rain.

Natural Resources

The water is unnaturally pure and clear, completely safe to drink at all times. The trees that bear fruit are often seen ripe around the early parts of the year and drop to the ground when they're fully ripe. Their outer shells are hard to break so organisms such as insects are unable to pierce them.
