Noble Profession L5
Noble Profession L5 (5th Class) is the First rank of Noble Professions. It includes four paths - Gladia, Mercatrix, Acolyta, and Adepta.
What are the qualifications for a rank or title?
- You can start training for L5 at age 16 under Noble Profession N (Novice), but cannot be certified until age 20
- Membership to a Guild or Union of Lithomancy under the Five Noble Elements
- Having completed Training for Initiation (between 6-9 months) with a Mentor of L3 or higher
- Completion of Noble Professional N certification for at least 12 months
- Medical Clearance from L4 Acolyta or L5 Gladia (only specific professions)
- 18 months of volunteer training with a Guild or Sanctioned Business
- All in all, to be eligible for initiation:
- 2 years of training for Noble Professional N
- 1-1.5 years of volunteer work and waiting time (can start volunteer time during NP N coursework)
- 6-9 months of Initiation training after
- Therefore if one starts at 16, it takes approximately 3 1/2 to 4 years to be eligible for initiation at 20
What are the requirements and responsibilities?
- Be in Good Standing with a Guild or Union of Lithomancy
- Note that "Good Standing" means having not been chemically sterilized by a guild for leaving.
- Few survive re-fertilization, but those who do can appeal and their rank will be reinstated
How is the rank granted?
- It is granted through an initiation ceremony
- This is followed by a yearly graduation ceremony which is more symbolic/social and dependant on the guild
- These graduation ceremonies (known as Homecoming and the Promenade of Debutants) are highly extravagant and often used as advertisment, propaganda, or promotion for the guild
- A member of the Immutable Council of Noble Professions must approve and witness the initiation
- An Acolyta of L2 or Higher must be present at the initiation, to verify it was a success
What are the benefits of the rank?
- The individual is granted synthesis with an element, effectively now able to perform 'magic'
- Base requirement for work in a Noble Profession beyond Noble-Skilled jobs
- Official membership to a Union or Guild, which come with many support and benefit
