The Unspoken Gods

The Forgotten and Forsaken

Many faiths have come and gone in the eons of Virosia, and very few of these have had any real merit. The Unspoken is a lumped up category that constantly gets added to as cults die and religions fade, though it is specifically for gods of such anonymity and forsaken nature that their names truly are lost to time.   These gods are referred to with a sense of obscurity and lack of belief that they ever existed to begin with. That said, the unspoken also inhabit a place of hope within many, for though there names have been forsaken, their ideals sometimes are not.   In many people's moments of desperation, they offer prayers to the unspoken, in search of anything that could answer.

The Gods People Wish Were Real

The Unspoken Gods have names to the cults that live, and of course are regarded as real and thriving to those groups. Often they hide themselves, only accepting into their folds the desperate and the unfortunate, and those easily manipulated. On the other hand, some zealots of Unspoken parade the streets, offering their "divine" word to the general public. Often dismissed as fool's ravenings, groups such as the Seaming welcome new members, even going so far as to target specifically sartors for their ranks. These groups are generally refered to as cults or Sects of the Unspoken by more estudious individuals.   Most look on towards these groups with a passing sadness; there were indeed days where religions such as these were vibrant and genuinely good for Virosia - but those days are long gone.

The Gods of the Towers

Virosia is inhabited by four powerful spirits. Their power was once on full display, and the people of Virosia considered them to be worthy of their devoutness and worship en masse. This began to wane during the Age of Towers, where Vuljornn build great constructions intended as their homes. For a time, indeed, these towers served as their respective homes. People would embark on great pilgramages to see the towers and revere their Gods - in person. But in only a matter of centuries, these towers began to crumble with disuse. To remain so stagnant was not for these spirits, and the slaying of the Leviathan of the Lear Sea resulted in a large upset in the reverence of the Gods. The creature did not stir for millennia, until the final tower - the Tower of Glass - was completed in the Shards of Glass of Fjorlosia.   As it completed, the towers shone, and a great spell was enacted between them; so long as one tower stood, they would all slowly rebuild themselves. Vulkjornn's masterwork: a creation that could maintain itself. The beacon of their light, however, was seen as a calling for the beast that sulked in the oceans. It began to ravage the world round, and the spirits were blamed. Their reverence itself, seen as fuel for the spirits that would ruin the world. The beast was slain, not by the spirits, but by mortals, and so the luster of religion was lost.
