Jack Winters

Jack Winters (a.k.a. Mulder)

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Jack is the middle child of three. His parents are John and Rita, his older sister is Lydia Wilde, and his younger brother is Tom. Jack's uncle Floyd was a bombastic figure in his early life. He would show up with wild stories and fun toys and disappear for months. Floyd was an FBI agent when Jack was a child, although he was eventually drummed out of the agency for misconduct. Much to his parents ' dismay, Jack loved and admired his uncle and wanted to become an agent and have the same types of adventures. Even though he recognized his uncle's many flaws when he became an adult, he still felt a calling for the work. After graduating from college, he worked as a forensic accountant for an insurance company. Once he had the required professional experience, he applied for and was accepted to the FBI Academy at Quantico as a Special Agent trainee. He would often go for early morning runs, before sunrise in the winter months, which led to him spotting a flying object hovering over the forest. Believing he saw a military drone, he reported the incident under what was, at the time, the proper classification of an unidentified flying object. When this spread to the other trainees, he gained the nickname "Mulder".

Education

Winters attended Colorado University at Boulder, earning a master's in forensic accounting. He graduated Magna cum laude with a 3.75 GPA.

Employment

National Federated Insurance hired Winters directly from graduate school to work in their commercial insurance division. He investigated false claims in manufacturing plants.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Winters has served with distinction throughout his career. He began by analyzing financial information to gather evidence for corruption investigations in state and local governments. The attorney general commended him after he uncovered an embezzlement ring that had funneled nearly $50 million from the city of Toledo. He shifted to investigating violent criminal activity which led to receiving the DHS Medal of Valor. A mercenary group had robbed a series of banks across the southwest with coordinated assault tactics. Winters and his task force tracked them down and successfully arrested the crew. Other members of the group attacked the FBI office in retaliation, and Winters saved several lives in the course of the siege.
