The Gardener Rezhaun

In order to make a better world, one must have a clear and uncompromising vision.

Rezhaun is the seventeenth Gardener of Elvenkind, appointed a century ago at the young age of 83 to oversee the operations of the Mithrallim throughout the Dream. Nearly forty years before, she was apprenticed as a ghulam to the former Gardener Bahar. Bahar herself chose to step down and allow her student to take her place, rather than carry on the role until the end of her days, a most unusual choice. When asked for a reason, Bahar simply said that she had been bested. The two have not been seen in each other's company since Rezhaun's appointment ceremony as gardener, though Rezhaun often sends gifts.

The Gardener has had a more open, accessible policy than her predecessors, inviting guests, heroes, and leaders among the Dream to visit her private gardens and discuss the best course of action for their futures. She presents herself as an advisor rather than a political force in her own right. She rarely interferes with the trade activities of the Mithrallim, giving them broad powers to negotiate new deals in the mineral and magical object trades, preferring to give new tasks and 'suggestions' rather than leave outsiders starved or denied the works of Elvenkind. "Let them know what we are," she says.

This open, easy hand is not the same as being soft, as many have learned. Mithrallim agents made several assassination attempts upon the Mansa Savrias once he began encroaching into the eastern borders of the Old Wilds. Friends and allies of Kovraza have met similar fates, with a statuary of such acccomplices set up for public viewing in Rezhaun's gardens. She is as ruthless and fearless as those who've come before her - she simply claims that the coming Karabagh is for all, not merely the daev. They must see what wonders are in reach, just as they must see what horrors yet remain to this day.

Rezhaun is commonly called The Kindly, but no one mistakes her ambitions for gentleness.
