Keepers
The Keepers are a civilization known for their fierce protection of animals. They were the first and only group to ever domesticate the now extinct Canine animals. The Keepers are now dedicated to protecting the endangered Tiger Wolf, also called the Thylacine.
General Life
Keepers are a farming culture. They grow a variety of crops and raise Sheep for food and wool. Occasionally, Keepers will wander the forest to gather herbs and wild vegetables. Keepers do not hunt any of the local animals on their island. They leave the hunting to the Thylacines.
History with Canines
Keepers pride themselves with their ability to tame and domesticate nearly any animal. They were even able to domesticate a creature thought to be vicious carnivores, Canines. As it turns out these "fierce" predators were actually quite cuddly. There weren't many Canines on the Keeper's island, but that seemed to only make them easier to tame. Over the generations the Canines began to change. They became the Keepers perfect companions. However, their number grew smaller over time. The last of the Canines died out decades ago, but their memory still remains with their Keeper friends.
Caring for Thylacines
Once the Canines were gone, a new species took their place. The Thylacines took over as the hunters of the Keeper's island. But as the Keepers began to see them less and less, they began to worry. They worried that the Thylacines would face the same fate as the Canines. So the Keepers began to care for them. Feeding them, tracking their numbers, and even taking in orphaned joeys. Some Thylacines have even stayed in the village with the Keepers. Some tame Thylacines have even stayed with keepers as pets. Over the decades the world may begin to see true domesticated Thylacines.
