Dragon Graveyard

The Dragon Graveyard is a collection of islets in the center of the world's currents. Everything drifting in the open seas will always find its way to the Dragon Graveyard, including its namesake. As dragon bones are hollow, the remains of dragons float along the seas and always end up at the Graveyard.

Environment

The Dragon Graveyard is made up of small rocky islands, referred to as islets. These islets are quite small and spread out. The islets act as an anchor for the unstable mass of floating bones. The bones have become loosely locked together from the constant churning waves, easily separated from one wrong step. Not even the bones on islets are safe. They break and crumble with every step and every wave.

The Graveyard has no freshwater, only the grey ocean water tainted by the decaying bones. As a result life in the Graveyard is incredibly scarce. The only life that dares to grow on the island are the bone eating Yowlers and the ocean's most resilient flora. No fauna can exist unless they have adapted to live off of the grey ocean water.

Shipwrecks

Sailors who have lost control of their ships will end up floating over to the Graveyard. The force of the currents combined with the tough bones of dragons lead to sunken ships. If the sailors had not already perished, their bones will join the mass of Dragon Graveyard, waiting to be consumed by the Yowlers.

The sunken ships pile at the bottom of the ocean under Graveyard, where they rot away alongside the bones above them.

Traveling to the Graveyard

While it is possible to venture out to the Graveyard, it is incredibly dangerous. The currents pull the ships closer and closer to the bones, tearing the hull along the way. If a ship manages to not join the piles of wrecks at the bottom, it will not be able to withstand storms on its attempt home.

Many have theorized that a ship made of steel can survive a journey to the Graveyard. Such a ship has never been made. Yet.
