The Bodman Dead

General Summary

The adventurers continued on their trek toward the violent end of the orcs trail. Following the southern bank of the river westward into the forest, the party was ambushed by a group of Whiners. After defeating the creatures, the party said goodbye to their ranger guide and made plans to cross the lake.   Almost immediately the dwarven paddlers had difficulty controlling the crude canoe and got caught in an undercurrent hidden by the calm surface of the lake. Fortunately, the party regained control of the canoe before hitting the rapids leading to the river and dragged themselves onto the opposite shore of the lake. After drying off, the party made camp for he night.   Bloodday, the 3rd day of Springwane, began as a warm, dry morning. The party broke their fast and moved back downriver east toward the sea. After some time they came upon an ancient cairn. A worn statue watched over the four graves. The inscription on the base of the statue read :
Site of the Bodman dead
Tis always a sad day to lose one of the true blood. May each rest here knowing those left behind build upon their legacy.   Two of the graves had recently been dug out. After determining that the inscription referenced a group of the earliest human inhabitants to the land, the party decided against investigating further and headed back to camp.    During the evening, an agitated ghost visited the group. From its language the party perceived the ghost as connected to the Bodman cairn. The only word they found familiar was a term for 'wife'.    Before the party could consider the significance of the ghost's appearance, a arrow flew from the nearby copse of trees, narrowly missing Stensune. Several elves stepped from the cover of the trees. One, a female decked in leather armor, pointed a finger at the party and shouted, "There, brothers, are the murderers."
