A Deam Is Only A Dream

General Summary

Springwane the 11th, 1165   Party has arrived at the Dead Man's Hand tavern in The Hollows, intent on delivering the letter from Rust Brother Strauss to his colleague Stukas the next day. During the night, with Rake keeping watch, the sleeping members of the party all shared the same dream.
A chill wind sends a shiver down your spine. Dry leaves and twigs crack beneath your booted feet as you trudge through heavy forest brush. Green gray trees close in around you, forcing you at a stumbling pace down the narrow path. Your lungs ache from the cold, your raspy breath hanging like a cloud before your face.   A wolf's howl, somewhere far off, pierces the dead silence of the night. A second howl answers the first, sounding almost at your heels. Your boots slip on the uneven ground as you twist about, expecting gaping jaws springing for your flesh.   Relief and surprise floods through you as you find no threat but the wall of gangly trees sealing off your retreat. As you turn back to the forest path, you find the trees have opened into a clearing before you. Moonlight filters through the canopy of branches above to form a circle of silver light on the forest floor. Standing within the circle, a long-limbed figure wrapped in a ragged white cloth blocks your way. Impossibly tall, its form thinly resembles a woman with long hair and sagging breasts. The creature stands motionless, its searing blue eyes watching you.   In your head, the same word repeats over and over again in a grating, angry voice.   Mine   Mine   MINE   You wake in a cold sweat.
Springwane the 12th 1165   The party met with Mrs. Pollmor in the morn, paid their respects and resisted her designs to open the letter. The letter was then delivered to Stukas who they found at his home speaking with two other Rust Brothers. Rake seemed especially intent on avoiding the Brothers as they finished speaking with Stukas and hurried off. The contents seemed to trouble the Rust Brother a great deal though he spoke nothing of it and the party did not pry. The party was paid 5 silver each for their trouble. Before they left Stukas alone with his problems, he allowed them to read the letter.
Brother Stukas,   Much hope this finds you well. It has come to my attention that a Raven Sister lives in the Hollows. The identity is unknown to my source but I am confident he is accurate. Believe that the milksop elf would have told me all he knew before I sliced off his member.   Wipe that disgust off your face. I know full well you care not for my methods but think on this-the Iron Guard will be making a sweep through the area before the Mid Summer celebrations. Do you think they would treat you gentle once they discover you allowed a witch slut to live right under your nose. So it would behoove you to unearth and split the bitch before then.   The fools carrying this letter have my word that they earned a payment for the privilege of serving the Brotherhood. Whether you see fit to 'instruct' them in the benefit of freely walking with Rust's good graces before payment, I leave to you. If it does not bother your delicate stomach, I would take it as favor if you returned the halfling to me. He looks a tasty treat.   Your brother in Rust   Strauss
In other news, Rake spent some time in the kitchen learning the cooking talent. Stensune helped repair a large section of the town wall wrecked by the last storm, learning some building skill in the process. Humperdink impressed Nirvea with his knowledge of plants and roots, so much so that the midwife taught the minstrel a bit of the herbalist talent.   With the coming of night, the companions returned to the Dead Man for a meal and good night's sleep. As Morvil kept watch, the dwarf heard noise coming from the staircase leading up from the main room. As Morvil peaked from the doorway, an enormous wolf-like creature padded into the hall. With fur as black as the deepest well and eyes glowing like pale moons, the enormous beast let loose a deep, rumbling growl.
