Chaelzha Xoulmier

The Ill'haress of the Xoulmier stands apart from other Rie'sharian Ill'haress, not by elegance, sophistication or the lacquered cruelty of the high court noblesse, but by the sheer, immovable gravity of presence. She is not a woman bred of court, nor one sharpened by the silver tongues of Rie’shae’s salons. She does not flinch from the barbed compliments wrapped in lace, nor does she joust with wit. Chaelzha Xoulmier speaks plainly, blunt as a spadehead with a finality that closed all doors behind it. For nearly two centuries, she has forged her legacy not with blades or whispered pacts, but with harvests, kinship, and quiet consolidation. While the nobility of Rie’shae scoff and whisper “Ill’haress Mushroom” and sneer behind their silk fans, Chaelzha simply plants her feet deeper. For her house is not built on favour or flirtation, but on stubborn certainty. Though her hands bear no calluses, her will is thick with them, the burden of a house that once seemed destined to remain provincial and forgotten, tethered to the mud and mist of the Rie’shi’mainze.   Yet under her steady hand, the mushrooms grew fat, plantations, orchards, and phosphorescent vineyards now sprawl across the mist-cloaked slopes and ridges of their dominion, as the name Xoulmier passed from rural jest to whispered currency. This once-insular house has entrenched itself as the breadbasket of the Caverns of Ameranth. The Rie'Shi'Mainze blossoming under their stewardship, and though the city may turn its nose at their name, it cannot turn away its mouth. Yet Chaelzha has sown more than crops, she has cultivated people. A sprawling family, loyal and industrious, raised with Xoulmier pride and fed with the belief that blood endures longer than wealth, and land longer than legacy.

Background.

Raised deep in the mycelium chocked ranges of the Rie’shi’mainze, high above in the Vrath'Skaern ridges. Chaelzha grew from infant to sovereign beneath the shadows of the ridge. Her mother, Ill'haress Charevii, had kept to the old ways: isolationist, insular, content to let the cities sneer so long as her people endured. But the world does not always honour distance.   Encroachments from House Lough’na over disputed ridgeland, combined with escalating pressure from Rie'sharian noble courts, turned the Xoulmiers’ refusal to bow into a provocation. When Charevii offered sanctuary to Dravarii clans driven from their ancestral territories, it was spun as defiance. As insurrection. She was found butchered in the houses gardens, throat carved deep as the furrows she once walked in peace. Chaelzha buried her beneath the bloom-glow of cap-trees, then set to work.
