Clans are the basic unit of social organization in most modern-period toren cultures. With membership numbers ranging between a small band of misfits to multiple millions, each clan seeks to carve out a place for itself in the cosmos.
Clans are usually led by a Scavenger Lord, typically the most accomplished or ambitious toren among the group. World-bound clans can hold territory like a human nation-state, while space-borne ones sometimes live aboard ships.
