A Tale of the Forest of Spirits

The Tale

Cuddled up by a warm and lively fire, Xou asks his grandfather to tell another bedtime story. Out of the many times, the two have been camping on hunting trips, there has always been one story Xou’s grandpa, who went by the name Ling-Xo, would never tell. This story was of the time that the village was in danger and he and his friend went on a crazy adventure. Back in Ling-Xo’s past he would actively work under his father as a cartographer and go out on long journeys in order to get better at surveying and mapping out land around his village.

The details would always be vague whenever Xou would beg his grandfather for information about the journey. This night was different, something about the crisp cold air, the star-studded sky and the forest animals rustling through the night brought a sense of nostalgia that Xou’s grandfather had not felt in years. The grandfather knew that for some odd occurrence, when Xou asks to tell the tale of his great adventure, this time he would divulge the details that have been a long-kept secret. Xou willingly asked his grandfather.
