Weapon Summoning - Crystalline and Pure Element

This spell was discovered eons ago by Kranjax, who was toying with the idea of creating weapons out of thin air.    2 versions of this spell were created:
  1. A version that used just the element itself. Maintaining its form is hard and it's mana cost is high and continuous. Such weapons cannot be broken easily except for that of earth, which simply reconstructs itself instantly. It was deemed impractical since it also required a fair amount of concentration, a luxury which is not always afforded in combat.
  2. The crystalline summoning which blends the user's mana with the element and solidifies the construct.

Effect

Summons a weapon using the caster's mana and a supplied element.   The weapon can be created within the caster's sphere of mana influence, and at whatever size the caster wants, assuming they have the mana to sustain it.

Side/Secondary Effects

Vary with the skill of the caster and the supplied attribute. If the wielder is unskilled in element manipulation, the following may occur: Fire: unsurprisingly... burns to the caster and/or surroudnign individuals Water: wet clothes Ice: Frostbite Wind: REALLY messy hair Earth: petrification Light: blindness. Potentiallly permenant depending on the intensity. May also result in mild burns Dark: oddly enough, no side effects have been observed with darkness. Though it will frighten most people... so there's that...

Manifestation

there is a gathering of light, colored according to the attribute of the intended weapon. Its sounds vary according to attribute, though dark and light summonings have the trait of being silent.

Source

A supplied attribute and the caster's mana. The supplied attribute can come from the caster or the surrounding environment.

Discovery

Thsi spell was discovered eons ago by Kranjax, who was toying with the idea of creating weapons out of thin air.    Due to the cost and concentration requirements of pure elemental summoning, the crystaline method was created. It is a seldome used technique as most mages prefer to use a catalist or an already existing physical object to cast and nearly none feel the need to actually use a physical weapon in a martial sense.   One thing that has however been lost to time is that mana-forged constructs are the 2nd best catalysts for their wierlders losing only to divine constructs.
Material Components
  1. Mana
  2. Suuplied element
Related Element
All elements can be used with this ability
Effect Duration
Until the user is killed, incapacitated, or runs out of mana. In the event of a crystaline weapon, it may persist until the mana stored within it dissipates, even if its summoner is not present.
Effect Casting Time
Generally somewhere between 0.5 and 10 seconds depending on summoner skill and the size of the weapon
Range
Self - 500m, varies by caster level.
Level
Intermediate (though this skill is not generally favored by mages and firhters usually dont have enough mana to bother)
Applied Restriction
Under normal circumstances, the following restrictions apply.
  • No more than 2 attributes can be used to summon such a weapon
  • Attributes cannot be opposites (earth/wind, water or ice/fire)
There are certain extremely rare and/or powerful beings who these restrictions may not always apply to. If you encounter such a being, it is wise to not engage in combat with them.
