“In this world, where we find ourselves, we need compassion more than anything, I think, or we are all alone.”
“Really, these wizards! You'd think no one had ever had a cold before! Well, what is it?" she asked, hobbling through the bedroom door onto the filthy carpet. "I'm dying of boredom," Howl said pathetically. "Or maybe just dying.”
Influence and Inspiration
The Last Unicorn will always been a favourite of mine, it's very evocative, and I had just really discovered fantasy in my late teens when I stumbed upon this. I first watched the movie when it was on tv on Sunday in Grade twelve and the mix of myth and magic and tragedy stayed with me.
Fionavar Tapestry was the first fantasy novel I read, and following this one I quickly devoured all of Kay's novels. This inspiration section could easily be all of this authors novels with a smattering of Dragon Lance and HP they're so prevalent in the early 2000s when I first started creating this world.
LOTR has some of the best visuals ever and I keep coming back to images and the movies to look at the scope of the world and how to convey distance and loneliness.
Spirit worlds, the fae, darkness, the importance of names and deals made. Also Ghibli is pretty much the art style I want for Aruinnbith
Another movie that inspired me to read the books, the art is breathtaking and I love the story of demons and magic and pacts being made.“All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.”

Lovely board. In terms of visuals, I particularly like the focus of the landscape square with the inset characters. I also like the paragraphs following the books - I didn't think of doing that and it really gives an insight into what you're thinking and drawing on.
