The Räuberland

The Räuberland is once spanned from Frosne Sletter down to the Blod-fiell mountains and to the lands north of the Nordsø. These sea faring people would travel south looking for trade. The Räuber being superstitious of the dwarves and elves, still used iron weapons and armor. it wasn't until the human people invading form the south that they were able to learn how to make steel and this is new technology is what caused the Räuber to lose ground and be pushed north of the Kultakaivoksia mountians and west of the Demonford. The various tribes of the Räuber, now having such limited resources, began to war with each other until the leaders of the three most powerful tribes, Arnulf von Kärntensaw, Karl der Dicke, and Herzog von Bayern, knew that they would destroy themselves if they didn't do something. So they began to build ships and pillage the foreign invaders from the coast. The southern invaders grew to fear the Räuber, they shown no mercy to coastal towns and villages. The multiple Kingdoms that now dotted the old RäuberLand would be to busy quarreling with each other over land disputes to band together to stop the Räuber. It wasn't until Sweyn united the varies city states to become the Kingdom of Sveinsdôttir. This treaty know as the Nordsø Charter and stated that the Räuber would leave the country of Sveinsdôttir alone, so long as Sveinsdôttir discontinues it's expansion north to Frosne Sletter, which still had Räuber settlements. The Charter also said that any settlement north of the Kultakaivoksia Mounntains was not protected by this charter nor the settlements to the south of the Goblin Blod Fiell Mountains. There is still dispute to this day about the Island of Ørige. But lately more and more countries to the south have been hiring the Räuber as mercenaries.   The Räuber wear a decorative gorget emblazoned with their house sigil. These gorgets are small give little protection but in time of war larger more practical gorgets are worn with the house sigil for lords and people holding higher rank. This practice of wearing the gorget is continued by the Räuber's descendants in the Lochlands.
