The Penitent Soul

A tormented God forever in penance. Their strict and rigid tenants by design to keep their followers from falling into the same fate as their God. There are two symbols of the Church of the Penitent Soul, that of a man arms stretched out his head looking up pleading into a light. The second symbol like the first but with the man kneel on both knees with arms out stretched looking up pleading into a light.
  While other religions exist in Wesfjord the Church, as it is commonly called, is the state religion and they believe they are the mouth piece of God and preach his will. The Church has a rigid hierarchy and tenets. They advise their followers to abstain from all that is not holy, and to cast out evil from their lives, their communities, and the world. The Church teaches obey the laws of both man and God, to do good works, to not indulge in unsavory affairs, such as gambling, thievery, lying, and witchcraft. The Church looks on the Society with suspicion and distain, they view the society as an organization that seeks out witch craft and other fel powers to elevate themselves above God. There are three orders in the church:
  The Order of the Gladius Vindicte: This order protects the Chapels, Temples, and Mausoleums of the Church, as well as soldiers sent after enemies of the Church.
  The Order of the Tallis: Also known as the Tallis Order. This order Tasks itself with the well being of it's worshipers, acting as caretakers, healers, and nurses.
  The Order of Venatores: This order of Inquisitors seek out all enemies of the Church, sending out the Gladius Vindicte to purge whatever evil they have found from he world. This order also act as Magistrates to those accused of Crimes against the Church. There are three subsets of this order that specializes in hunting down different enemies of the Church.
  The Blight hunters: This sect of the Venatores focus on cleansing the blighted, any cursed with lyncathropy. Mostly found in the northern region of Wesforjd they have been known to operate in the coastal cities and towns when hunting were-rats The Occisor Tactus: This sect of the Venatores focus on fiendish pursutes and witchcraft. This order finds themselves at odds with Elder-Tol as their wizards dabble in conjuration and some having fiendish familiars The Libris Mortis: The liberators of the Dead seek out undead of all kinds and puts them to rest, in a many of speaking. They investigate reports of hauntings, zombies, vampires, ghouls, wights, and other undead beings
