Krex'alma
Krex'alma the unclean, the diseased, The Vermin Lord.
Krex'alma is a being revered by the blighted, a giant horned beast said to spread disease and misery. Their followers seldom bath and can often, the non-blighted followers, be found dead in the streets succumbing to disease. However the blighted are said to have been blessed to carry disease for Krex'alma and spread to the non-believers.
Krex'alma is depicted as a large horned beast, as well as a bloated and boil covered wretch.
Core Beliefs:
Reverence for Disease: The central tenet of this religion is the veneration of disease and misery as divine gifts from Krex'alma. The Blighted believe that suffering and illness are sacred and a means of spreading their deity's influence.
Divine Affliction: The Blighted see themselves as blessed carriers of disease, chosen by Krex'alma to infect the non-believers and bring them into the fold. They view their affliction as a divine calling.
Krex'alma, the Vermin Lord:
Krex'alma is depicted in two forms: as a giant horned beast and as a grotesque, bloated figure covered in boils and sores. The dual representation reflects the deity's dual nature, embodying both the fearsome and the repulsive aspects of disease.
Rituals and Practices:
Disease Spreading: Blighted individuals actively seek to spread disease to non-believers, often through close contact or contaminated objects. This act is considered a sacred duty.
Contagious Gatherings: The Blighted gather in secluded and unsanitary places for worship, communal ceremonies, and rituals. These gatherings are designed to propagate disease and misery.
Self-Affliction: Devout followers may intentionally subject themselves to ailments and infections in an effort to strengthen their connection with Krex'alma.
Hierarchy:
High Afflictor: The highest-ranking member of the faith, believed to be the most afflicted by Krex'alma and granted the ability to spread diseases more effectively.
Blighted Clerics: Religious leaders who oversee the worship and rituals, guiding the Blighted in their mission to infect and convert.
Contagion Bearers: Ordinary members of the faith who actively carry and spread diseases in the name of Krex'alma.
Symbols and Iconography:
The symbol of Krex'alma is a diseased, bloated figure with grotesque sores and boils, often accompanied by symbols representing contagion and suffering.
Goals:
To infect as many non-believers as possible, converting them to the faith of Krex'alma.
To spread suffering and misery, believing it to be a divine mandate.
Enemies:
The Blighted and their worship of disease are reviled by most other societies and religions. Healers, clerics, and paladins often seek to contain the spread of this faith, viewing it as a threat to public health and well-being.
