Auntie Tina and Serana

In the forest of shadows, between Griffon's Aerie and the Thunder Cliffs, the large trees spread out their branches causing the forest canopy to black out the suns rays. In the darkness stirs a Hag. Or so the the legends say. Long ago in a village lost to time lived a beautiful young woman named Unstina Lunabramov. Suitors would come from all around trying to win her affection and hand in marriage. One by one the suitors would come and go; all of them Unstina found inadequate. Until one day an old Baron who had heard of the beauty of Unstina travelled to see and win the hand of the legendary maiden. The baron came and was immediately enraptured by her beauty and grace. He became obsessed. He began to send Unstina gifts and would write her poetry. He would invite her to join him at his manor for formal balls and dinners, which she refused until one day Unstina accepted an invitation. When the Baron got word that Unstina accepted his invitation he was beside himself. The Baron immediately began to make an itinerary for the day. When Unstina arrived to the Baron's manor he had his staff lined up as was custom. As Unstina walked down hte line of servants a maid had caught her eye. Serana was her name. A young woman beautiful in her own right. Unstina requested Serana to be her attendant during her stay and the Baron, blinded by is obsession, obliged. Serana would accompany Unstina and the Baron in all of the activities the Baron laid out. After the evening meal and all parties retired the Baron decided to pay a visit to Unstina's quarters to speak with her about his feelings for her. But when he came to her door he could hear the sounds of conjugal pleasure. In a fury the Baron burst into the room to see Unstina and Serana together in bed. In a rage he cast Unstina out and had Serana cast into a cell. Unstina would send letters trying to find Serana and even writing to the Baron beseeching him to release Serana and even agreeing to marry him if he would free her beloved Serana. The Baron agreed and sent for Unstina and when she arrived the Baron had prepared the Manor for the wedding which was to happen that night. Sadly Unstina cleaned and dressed for the evening. After the ceremony was the wedding feast, which the Baron spared no expense. There was bore, chickens, mutton, veil, meat pies, roasted vegetables, wine, mead, and ales. Even though the atmosphere of the evening was one of joy and revelry Unstina was full of sorrow. She turned to her newly wed husband and asked, "I fulfilled my end of the bargain. How do I know you freed Serana". The Baron turned to her with a large grin and said, "Why dear, she is hear at the feast. You have been enjoying her company", as he gestured to the meat pie. Unstina stared at the meat pie in horror and disgust. A covered platter was set before and the Baron tells Unstina, "Perhaps you would like to tell Serana how much you have been enjoying her", he lifts the platter lid revealing the severed head of Serana! Unstina overcome with dread faints. When Unstina awakes in a dungeon cell, her wedding clothes replaces with burlap rags. Her grief was so strong she would do nothing, she wouldn't eat she wouldn't speak , all she does was cry and morn. eventually she became so weak from starvation she was about to let self succumb to death when she heard a voice, a small whisper. this voice promised her power, power to seek revenge and all she has to do is sign a pact with this...voice. Unstina already broken and empty agrees and a book and quill appears before her. She tells the voice that she has no ink and the voice replies, "Ink is not what the quill needs, your blood will the ink be". Unstina takes up the quill and pricked her finger with the tip of the quill, her blood filled quills the tip. Unstina signed her name in the book and after she is done and looks up, she is no longer in the cell but back in her house of her village. She no longer fills hunger and an owl is perched on her chair. The owl gazes upon Unstina and she begins to hear the owl's thoughts in her head. "Unstina", is says over and over until Unstina asks it what powers she was granted to which the owl sends to her mind, "Dreams, Unstina. You can command dreams and other things you can do to. Your revenge will be at hand". Unstina pondered on these words and looked out her window. It was still night. so she sat and began to picture the Baron in her mind and soon she found herself in his dream, surrounded by beautiful woman all flirting with him. he was in a large room filled with cushions and incense burning. "A nice dream", he was having Unstina thought, "but what if all these woman became Serana?", and with that the women in the Baron's dream all turned in to corrupted undead and decomposing images of Serana, their sharp skeletal fingers piercing and digging into the Barons flesh! Unstina could feel the Baron's anguish and can hear him scream out in pain and terror. And then the Baron locked eyes with Unstina and the sense of dread fell over the Baron. Unstina lavished in it. The Baron woke up, the dream ended and Unstina found herself back in her house sitting in the middle of floor. the owl looking at her sent its thoughts to hers, "Goooood, good. I saw what you did". "But how", Unstina asked "We are connected our minds as one. I can see what you see and you can see what I see", replied the owl. "Go then", commanded Unstina, "Serve me, tell me what the Baron is doing". "As you command", the owl said as Unstina opened a window. The owl flew out into the night.   Some time later it is said that Unstina would continue to go into the Baron's dreams to twist and corrupt them. The Baron was to get no rest, no reprieve from the onslaught Unstina fell upon him. One day the Baron chose to pay Unstina a visit in her cell and saw that she was missing. In a rage he ordered his men to arms and ride out to Unstina's village. As the Baron railed the owl was watching, listening and quiet as a shadow flew off to it's master. Back in her house Unstina was herself was dreaming, scheming of what horrors she would inflict upon the Baron when a rapping at her window pulled her back into the present. "The Baron comes! He leads a band of men, armored and armed!" the owl sent in her head. Unstina smiled she pulled out the book she had signed in her blood and opened it, the pages flipping on their own came to rest upon a spell. She looked up and smiled wickedly. Unstina quickly gathered what she needed and began to cast this dark ritual. Unstina said the words and commanded an ally to come to her aid. A darkness fell over the house and whispered voice came to her, "Unstina, I have brought to you an old friend to aid you. She too wants revenge on the Baron" and the darkness fell away and before her floating in an eldritch glow was the incorporeal head of Serana, both beautiful and dreadful, full of sorrow and rage. Together, all three set out into the forest.   Now there were no one to witness what had happened that night. all that was left were the bodies of the Baron's men. some who faces were frozen in a twisted, eternal scream, while others were torn to shreds. It is believed that Unstina placed a curse on the Baron turning him into a creature of uncontrollable rage and it was he who killed his own men. Other's believe it was Unstina that killed those men. Some say it was both. However which ever ending is true Unstina, Serana, and the Baron were never seen again. However there are tales of young women lost in the forest claim an owl lead them to safety, while men left alone and lost in the forest are never heard from again.
