Basic information

Anatomy and morphology

Dwarves appear to have a similar physiology to the standard human standing around 2-4.5" tall and weighing about 5% more than a human, dwarves are known for their toughness and strength.

Another notable feature is a biological instinct relating to minerals and rocks, this is believed to be because dwarves once lived in the underdark, and this feature evolved to help them find their way, this later evolved into an ability to sense either the craftsmanship of a mineral or the presence of ore in an area.

Genetics and reproduction

Dwarves produce similarly to humans and other Sapien species maturing around age 20 and living to about 500

Growth stages and rates

Dwarves mature similarly to other sapiens, reaching adulthood a little later and living a little longer. Dwarves are considered adults around age 20, and then are considered elders at age 400 living to around 500.

Ecology and habitats

A common dwarf preference is to live near mountains, as they have a biological advantage in jobs such as mining or being a guide. This also means that many dwarves will grow up in cooler climates, growing to prefer them.

Alternatively some dwarves choose to live on other planes of existence, such as the underdark, where they have similar advantages and climate preferences.

Dietary needs and habits

Imagine the dwarf diet as Human+, dwarves typically consume similar food to humans, but they have a higher tolerance for various poisons, such as nightshade. They don't necessarily need these types of plants, but it is and interesting deviation for their human counterparts, and often leads to dwarf dishes being deadly to humans.

Side note: Alcohol and poison consumption

Dwarves are widely regarded as having some of the best breweries around, it should be noted however that the alcohol that dwarves release to other species is not their strongest, these would more likely be their equivalent of light beer.

Exclusively dwarven alcohol is much stronger, either containing amounts that could be dangerous to a human, or doses of poison that could prove fatal.

Be warned he who eats at a dwarven feast, for every bite could be your last.

Behavior and psychology.

Dwarven behavior does not deviate from standard Sapien behavior. They do however have similar effects when exposed to too much vitamin D that humans have when they lack vitamin D. As such if they experience seasonal depression they experience it in the summer rather than the winter.

History

It's difficult to write a section on the history of a species that has existed for a short two years. Nevertheless, there is still some history, dwarves are widely regarded as one of the hardest working species, and are popular among every faction for their ability to find resources.

Languages

Dwarves speak all human languages, with an emphasis on colder regions dialects such as Scandinavian languages, due to an increased presence in those areas.

Interspecies relations

Dwarves have no inherent prejudice against any species, and no species holds inherent prejucdice against them (except some humans HPM).
