Hair Beading
The practice in which men and women put decorative beads in their hair and/or beards.
History
Hair beading started as a status symbol that displayed one's wealth. The more expensive and beautiful and rare the beads, the richer it meant that the wearer was. As time passed, it became standard practice for every man to wear beads in his hair according to preference and less according to status. Men also adorned their wives and daughters to make them look prettier and wealthier. Eventually separate men's and women's hair beads were developed.
Execution
In some cultures it's braiding the hair and putting a colorful bead at he end of it, whil in others they literally fill their hair with beads. The amount of beads differs depending on the culture. There are separate men's and women's beads and they also have differing customs as to how they are worn. Men tend to wear chunkier and flashier beads while women tend to wear more elegant and petite beads.
Components and tools
Decorative hair beads, something to prevent them from falling off the hair and some hair to put them on.
Participants
Men and women. As to who and at what ages it changes from place to place.
Observance
These beads are seen on a day to day basis. People tend to wear more ornate ones to events like holidays and parties. in some places you have special beads for specific events or to show a specific status. For example, in Labia women fill their hair with these beads. If a woman has three lines of lapis lazuli beads, it means she is engaged and that she is either engaged to nobility or from a noble family herself, while this would simply mean that she is married if she is from Tabi.
