Breed dilution
Breed dilution is a common practice that is used to moderate or improve bad traits found in a domestic animal breed, or to get a similar animal with similar traits for a lower prices by purposefully interbreeding it with other breeds within the same species. For example: The Berini Empire had captured Urlashnaurukshuk stallions. They used them to sire not just more of their own breed with captured mares, but also with the local warhorse breeds to get warhorses with similar traits that are cheaper for the Berini military to buy and a lot more plentiful so that they could replace the smaller ones that they had been using for centuries.
