Humans
Humans are an industrious race of nonmagical creatures that live throughout the world. Humans live in every city on the planet and find their homes in Orc or Elf-controlled cities. They are a large willing labor force, and many Elves view humans as fodder for their great machines of empire. Orcs see them as willing comrades in the never-ending war against the Elves. The human diaspora is as varied and different as it is on Earth.
Humans have the harshest reaction to the magical radiation from the suns. They are the most susceptible to mutations and diseases caused by solar magic. They are the most common recipient of vents. Through training or otherworldly means, they can learn to wield magic. They are also the biggest market for magical items because it's easier to buy a magic gun than to spend decades learning how to wield a fireball spell.
What humans lack in magical ability they more than make up for in industry and technology. Many of the great technological advancements that make modern society possible (such as factories and textiles) were invented by humans and orcs working together.
Humans are also inherently psionic, and human psychics can be incredibly important to Elven rulers. Nearly 15% of all humans have some sort of psionic ability.
During the eclipse of Ast's Sleep where magic is weakened, humans play an important role for magical folk. Being relatively unaffected by the magical seasons makes them perfect to maintain day-to-day activities for society. Throughout history, humans have used this as an opportunity to attack their oppressors, to varying degrees of success.
