Elves

Elves are the capitalist masters of water and the upper crust of modern society. By taking power through violent corporate takeover, Elves control most of the upper echelons of society and are the ones holding the purse strings.
  Elves are fair-skinned and have pointy ears, and are some of the most naturally gifted magic users on the planet. Because of this, many young elves who are gifted in magic are forced to get implanted with the vents in order to prevent mutations. Older, more conservative elves view Orcs as the ultimate mutation, and they think that anything less than perfection isn't truly Elven.
  In social settings, Elves pride themselves on making their appearance pristine, and etiquette is held above all else. Contrary to the vibrant colors and designs of the Orcs, Elven weapons are sleek and functional. If an elf were to wear the wrong type of clothing to a social function, they would be humiliated and apologize for their rudeness. The average lifespan of an elf is 400 years, but through magical means, they can extend their life force.
  Once they were ruled by The Scarlet King, a ruthless monarch that started a world-conquering conquest that allowed the Elves to control most of Ulaan both geographically and financially. As the Empire grew and grew, the Scarlet King's grip grew tighter on his people. This led to The Shareholder Mutiny, where a group of ultra-wealthy landowners overthrew the King and created a structure of government that is controlled like a business. The new board of directors didn't overthrow the government to improve the lives of the Kingdom's citizens but to enrich themselves. Many don't see a difference in who is cracking the whip, only that there is still a whip.
