Burall Vauz Artam (170-84 y.a.)
Springs Rest, 97 y.a.
Oils on canvas
A depiction of Springs Rest from the west. Burall depicted the village from a location near where Aglun the Gifted chose to depict the village along with the same perspective and subject matter. Her representation updated the style of the art as she chose to use watercolors, a looser stroke and a more interpretive style of the landscape than her predecessors. However, she chose to closely mirror the aesthetic and layout of the town to prove that Alglun’s work was a faithful representation of the village even several centuries later as a response to skeptics, art critics and changing moods of artists at the time of the painting. Her less romantic and less dramatic view of the buildings was traded for a more realistic view but still within the bounds of the old masters style. The image received great praise from the Dominion but also from Throne and other parts of Kurra.
