Jan Everton Rosay, a Pre-Rathsburg painter, drew inspiration for his work from his own life and experiences. Shortly before painting 'The Price for the Fallen, ' one of Rosay's servants fell pregnant but had no idea who the father was. As punishment, Rosay had her head shaved, and after the birth, had the child sent to the care of a nunnery.
