Dear Nori,
How are you? Still good? I'm sorry about my previous letter. I was kinda down because things weren't going as easy as I hoped. The thing is, I shouldn't have expected it to be easy. We're in literal hell. I should know by now things aren't going our way, and getting things our way is going to be an uphill battle.
We’ve had a weird couple of days. Like I told you in my previous letter, we got Lulu's memories back. When we got out of the machine Leo was there again. I assume he turned back into his elf form sometime while we were in the dream machine and saw Lulu's memories on the screen. Mordenkainen had already left. Maggie decided it was time for a round of celebratory drinks, which basically meant we were getting shitfaced. Again. Not that I mind. I don't think we're drinking enough alcohol all the time, considering our situation. Anyway, I was surprised to see Ron gone first. I guess he lost his dwarven resistance with the reincarnation. Luna and Lulu were gone next. I was pretty pleased with myself that I had beaten both Leo and Fenrir. It was only me and Maggie left. I tried to get her to tell me the story about herself and Mordenkainen, but she wasn't having any of it. Then I thought I should show off my win by writing Caja won on their faces (yes, I know it was a stupid idea, but I was pretty drunk), but I couldn't find anything to write with. Maggie left, and then Natasha came to me. She was pretty pissed with the state of the bar. Which was fair. Everyone had puked before they went out. She told me I should clean it up. That wasn't fair since it wasn't my puke. But I actually enjoy hanging out in the well. Luckily my drunk ass was smart enough to not argue about it and started cleaning. After a while Leo woke up (I don't think he actually rested, since elves don't really sleep). I told him he should start cleaning, after which I went to bed. Or at least, that’s what I thought I did. I just fell asleep in one of Maggie's warmachines. The exact one Clunk and Chugga took for an errand run the next morning. I’m not sure if they didn’t notice me sleeping in there, or if they took that warmachine because I was sleeping in it, but either way I wasn’t at Fort Knucklebone when I woke up. I kinda helped them scavenging but I mostly taught them to curse in every language I know (unfortunately not that many). After half a day or so we came back. Somehow none of my party members cleaned up anything while I wasn’t there. I mean, I kinda expected it from Fenrir. He mentioned before he had servants growing up, so he probably hasn’t cleaned anything in his life. Except maybe his armour and sword, but that’s more an honour thing. I did think it’s weird neither Ron, Luna or especially Leo cleaned up. Apparently everybody thinks they’re too good to clean. Lazy bastards. I still felt kinda responsible (again, it wasn’t even my puke) so I annoyed everyone with doing the sensible thing, and started cleaning again. I mean, they could have helped…
Anyway, once I was done the redcaps came in. Annoying me, soiling the just clean floor again. I was about to use one of them as a mop, which angered basically all of them (also weird, by the way. They usually don’t get along. I guess it’s a “ only I can say that to you” kind of thing) when a gorgeous tiefling walked in. Seriously, the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Somehow the tension dropped immediately and the redcaps left. The tiefling introduced herself as Sephadi. She’s a cleric of Eldath. Interesting enough, she also came from Elturel (I didn’t know there were clerics in Elturel who weren’t sworn to the companion). We talked for a bit, and considering our goals align we decided to travel together.
We had barely set a foot outside or we saw a familiar face: the real Jim Darkmagic. I don’t really understand why he’s always there when we’re at Fort Knucklebone. Like he doesn’t have anything better to do. Anyway, Sephadi didn’t know him yet and somehow everyone else beside me became a big fan of him. Ron has even developed a crush on him (My crush on Leo is nothing compared to the thing Ron has for Jim). I really can not pinpoint when everybody decided they like Jim now. Did I miss the meeting? Anyway, Jim did a trick where he made Ron float. Like Ron can't do that by himself. Yet he seemed impressed. Or maybe enjoying it? Jim seemed to love the positive attention everyone except Sephadi and me were giving him. He signed some autographs, and we went on our merry way.
Fenrir rode Ash, as usual. Sephadi decided to join me on my bike (Luna was a bit too eager to sit with her, she's really into Sephadi). Ron shared the last bike with Luna and Lulu and Leo flew with us. To be honest, I had no clue where to go. But Luckily, Fenrir got something extra from Lulu's memories: a built-in compass towards the sword. So we followed Fenrir's sense of direction (not a sentence I ever expected to say) for a day and made camp. Then we saw something on the horizon, moving towards us. It took a while, but eventually we realized it was Feonor, the warlord we met at our first time at Fort Knucklebone. She brought some ghouls with her. She claimed we were on her land, and we had to pay for passing. Bullshit of course. She’s just trying to get money out of us. Yet, somehow, it kinda worked, the others didn’t feel like getting into a fight so paid her. I don’t understand why. We could definitely handle her. Stupid bitch. Now we probably have a reputation as scared morons who will pay anyone. It’s a shame that after Fenrir paid her she just left. I kinda feel like the new girl is the reason we didn't fight her. I mean, she's the only thing that changed in our group yet somehow we are fighting not nearly as often as we used to. What happened to violence is the answer?
Anyway, the night was uneventful. The next morning there wasn’t a sign of Feonor so we just moved on. It was a long day. At some point we saw a horde of neperimos. A real horde. Probably more than 100 of them. We were kinda in doubt about what to do with them. On one hand we kinda want to end them, but at the same time there were SO many of them. It would cost a lot of energy and time. And for what? So eventually we decided to just let them waddle along.
Nothing interesting happened for the rest of the night. Fenrir thinks we should reach the Bloody Cyst tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll be lucky and there won’t happen any weird shit.
I hope I see you soon, with Elturel back in Faerȗn.
Your loving sister,
Caja
