Session XXXVII: Game Over Mindhome Report

General Summary

In a moment of lucidity, Mindhome pleads with Dalvanak to give back the artifact. The consoles continue to advance on the party as Faddius fires a bolt of fire at one of the shambling mimics. Garlith lashed out at the advancing mimic with his shortsword and then blasted it with his hand crossbow, annihilating it.    Darius repositions himself and lets fire two pistol shots at a console but misses both shots. Grewarum casts a spell to entangle the remaining consoles advancing on the party.    Dalvanak attempts to understand the magic puppeting Mindhome. He realizes that the intelligence that is puppeting his body is the result of the artifact's power assuming the greed and ambitions of Mindhome. He is unsure how long that magic would persist if Mindhome died. Dalvanak attempted to blast Mindhome with his psionic powers but the gnome's mind was unreasonably fortified.    The remaining mimic resists the fear Faddius cast on it and turns back to attack. Mindhome undergoes some turmoil, with the intelligence snarling at Dalvanak before turning Mindhome into a gaseous form and escaping through a crack in the wall. The consoles all get stuck in the webs Grewarum summoned.    Garlith throws some food to the remaining mimic and attempts to tame it, but manages to only gain a reprieve from the mimic's advance. He then turns and fires his crossbows at one of the console's power cord, severing it and sending the console to inactivity.    Darius then steps between the material and astral planes to end up behind the remaining consoles and severed their cords, powering them down. Grewarum pulled out a baboon from his bag of tricks.    Chasing after Mindhome, Dalvanak sends his psychic blades to slice the gnome wizard and does some minor damage to the cloud of gas he became. The intelligence retains control Mindhome as he drops out of his gaseous form and hurls a pocket watch, imbued with magic at Dalvanak, but misses, causing a small explosion and starting a fire. He threatens to press a panic button, summoning the police.    Grewarum makes the baboon dance. The baboon is confused. The mimic is confused. No one feels good about it. Garlith attempts to make the mimic his friend again, and succeeds in making it more interested in food than fighting. Grewarum pulls a giant hyena out of his bag of tricks.    Dalvanak rushes toward Mindhome and lashes out with his tentacles, grappling him. The mimic continues to eat. Mindhome responds to the grapple by stabbing Dalvanak with his dagger. The baboon dances again. It is better, but still confusing. Garlith tries to befriend the mimic again. It does not go well. Grewarum makes the giant hyena get close to the mimic and pulls out another giant hyena from his bag of tricks.    Dalvanak responds to Mindhome's dagger with a strike from his sword, leaving the gnome bloodied and near death. The mimic slaps Garlith with a pseudopod.  Mindhome attempts to gain control of his body, but it is too badly damaged. The intelligence and Mindhome writhe and tear the body until is splits down the middle in an ooze of blood and gore. An amber light pulses, expands the to the whole store, before imploding into a small, dense ball of light and shooting back into the beholder artifact Dalvanak held.  The light exacerbates the fire Mindhome made such that the sprinklers kick on, the fire alarm spells blare, whistles sound in the street from the city watch coming to the scene. The great crystal cylinder cracks as the prizes begin to explode in arcane pops like bubbles in a bin.
