Session XXXX: Out on the Corner, Down in the Street Report

General Summary

After talking with Boris Khilkov, the party find that there are several institutions all wrapped up in the Apparatchiknetwork, including a prikaz in a slum district called the Knife. It is run by a Dyak (head clerk in charge of the district) named Grigori Lebedev. The party headed to Lebedev's office and found the portly, balding man who they identified as Lebedev. Through a series of interrogations, the party get him to admit he is part of the Apparatchiks and involved with the Tenth Pit. He resigns himself to a fate he does not explain and leaves.   Searching the ledgers Lebedev left behind, the party finds, that there is a network of receptionists and lower clerks who have been funneling money and equipment to various places, funneling to a main location called “the Pit” which is run by someone called the Authority who answers to the Pakhan, the leader of the Tenth Pit. The ledger contains instructions for finding the Pit. Using a series of passcodes among the Apparatchiks, they will be guided to the Pit. Their next location is streltsy precinct in the Golden Hills District, the one run by Lt. Suvorov and the name Cherrup Roundstone. They had the password: The first step is to see the need for power.”   Arriving in the precinct, the party go through the front door and meet with Corporal Cherrup Roundstone. They tell the gnome that they want to talk to Lieutenant Suvorov. Roundstone lets the officer know they are there and the party head up. Coming to the office, they find that Suvorov is freaked out that they came up the front stairs. After presenting the evidence they found in Lebedev's office, Suvorov says they should continue investigating. There is a network there and they could probably get a few people, but they might get more if they tugged more on the strings they found.   The party go downstairs to Roundstone and Garlith speaks the password they got from Lebedev. He answers with another password: “The second step is seizing it for yourself.” He gives them a piece of paper with the address of a member of the Seekers and the password, “The third step is to use power.” It is the house of Seeker Josiah and is in the Celesitial District. After talking with Seeker Josiah and giving the password, he returns with, “The fourth step is to use power without mercy.” He gave an address to a supply clerk at the IEN Provost Marshal’s office, Darion Rigel, and the password, “The fifth step is to gather all power to yourself.” After finding Rigel and giving the password, the haughty elf replies with, "The sixth step is to use power without conscience" and the name and address of the Deputy Chief of Staff to Colonel Yussopov of the Rynda Regiment, Captain Viktor Yakovich Mosyakov. The party go to him and provide the password "The seventh step is to make others exercise your power," and recieved the response, "The eigth step is to use power without mercy." He gives the address to Viktor Romanovich Gochakov, a pawn broker and money lender in the Grand Market. After supplying the password, he gives them the address to a Sindiath Line warehouse right outside the Knife with the password, "The ninth step is to shroud your power in darkness.”   The party find the warehouse and investigate the outside. The gate had glyphs of warning and warding along with an arcane lock. Dalvanak levitates over the wall encompassing the warehouse yard and looks around, opening a door to a breakroom. As he does so, probing for thoughts, he finds thoughts coming suddenly above him and a dark figure aiming a handcrossbow at him.
