Session 06: Brother's of Yellow Report

General Summary

The party quickly check the chests to see if they are locked. They are so they decide to check the cave next. A quick exploration shows a path to the south that leads to a hidden door into the T-intersection room. The path to the north leads to a large cave filled with animal, and humanoid bones. There is a pool of murky water in the north west part of the room that seems to have no end. The party checks the cave for anything interesting but find nothing of value.   They return back to the treasure room and decide to leave the chests for later in hopes of maybe finding a key for them. They move to the room with light spilling out of it. As they open the door they are met with a small library. Checking the books they find books of ill nature that would be next to impossible to peddle, but could be valuable to the right person. They also find a large black tome titled The Book of the Unspeakable One. It gives off a magical aura of Abjuration, Conjuration, and Necromancy. Defiantly a book that could be quite dangerous. Rothgar takes mentioned book for safe keeping. He has plans on destroying it on a later date. Diala Tealeaf and Jorin both grab a few books as well, however these books are quite mundane despite the dark and foreboding titles they bare.   They party then pushes up the hallway towards a large set of stone doors. The doors have what appears to be Snake Person worshipping what they believe is the depiction of the Unspeakable One. Diala and Hanz are both reminded of an ancient god of destruction and chaos that are worshipped by evil cultists who have had their orders destroyed on multiple occasions throughout history. With this they decide to push into the room beyond. Here they find a large room with six large pillars flanking the room. At the end stands an altar of black basalt, a strange yellow symbol is inscribed on the wall behind it. There is also a statue of a tentacled horror, most likely a depiction of the Unspeakable One himself! Standing in the room are two temple attendants holding crossbows. And standing at the alter is Milos, he is not surprised to see the heroes but he is clearly itching to end their lives. The battle is well fought and Milos employs spells the party has never encountered before. However they are victorious in their battle. The attendants are the first to fall and Milos soon after. However as Milos falls and expires he exclaims "By the Yellow Sign, we will rule!" Suddenly a terrible transformation takes place. Milos transforms into a Snake Person! The party can't help but wonder how long had he managed to get away with his deception, and can't help wonder if their are others like him in the city above.   The party checks the area and they are able to locate Lucius he is in terrible shape as he was tortured. Rothgar is quick to stabilize him. With him now unconscious they head to the treasure room and help themselves to the cult's treasure. They also decide to check the murky pool once more in the cave. Jorin dives down and finds a small cave at the bottom of the pool. He sets forth to see if he can find where it leads. However after sometime travelling down the single passage he realizes the cave system is far larger then expected. He turns back to reunite with the party. The party then leaves the temple. As they do Lucius regains consciousness. The party tells him where he is, and Lucius lets the party know what happened to him, how Milos tortured him trying to find information on what happened to himself while he was possessed all those years ago. The party lets him know Brother Egil is worried about him and the party was hired to find him. He quickly directs the party to Egil's home where they two friends reunite.   The party then gives a tale on what happened and what they have learned. Greatly concerned over this Egil decides it is best to alert the guard immediately. He sets off with the party in tow towards The Old City. As a group of armed individuals it is not long before they are quickly approached by armed guardsmen asking why their sort was in this part of town. Egil explains why they have come and what they wish to report. The guards lead them to the Guardsmen's Facilities. Here the party tells the story once more of what they had found. The guards send out some individuals to confirm the report. An hour later with the story the adventurers reported to be true the guards are thanking the adventurers for their service to the city. The group tries to get a reward however the guards make a self depreciating joke about if the city had any money maybe they would get a proper pay for once! Hearing this, Jorin and Ganbold both give the guards in the room some gold as a gift. The guards are quite thankful and send the adventurers on their way. Egil informs the party that he must return home to attend to Lucius they should meet him at Freland Shipyards in the morning, and to bring their damaged ship with them!    The party then returns to the Rancor. However they are quickly met by Nickolva who is quite angry and passes a letter onto the party. Apparently while on her turn for watch Zynoe Sicosh freed all the prisoners. She pilfered the potion of water breathing and has plans on disappearing into Freeport after all her real identity is in reality the greatest thief of Ronia The Phantom Wind. Nickolva also informs the party it is time for her to return to Cloudbreach to return to her wife and daughter. She also informs the party the cleric who was staying on board Alashna Ravonich had left to go find a temple in service of Otarr to get court dates for the prisoners aboard the Rancor. She was going to return in the morning. The party decides with it being well past midnight and already creeping into a new day to head to bed.
