Session 12: Five Card Undead Report

General Summary

The party finishes their preparations and head out towards Scurvytown later in the evening. Freeport at night is a loud affair of folks drinking their day's wages away. As they enter Scurvytown they find the buildings here to be in disrepair, the roads dry, cracked, and dusty. And the smell of sewage and refuse so bad it causes a slight gag reflex to those not use to the smell. There are rougher, much poorer folk moving around here. Some clearly drunk, and some under the influence of other deliberating substances.   As they begin their patrol they find multiple business along the dock side. Fish Stew appears to be a tavern of some sorts, Old Whore is a brothel. An old hag sits out front. Mouth of Hell seems to be an entertainment facility of some sorts. Loud music can be heard coming from beyond it's doors. Otto's Blades & Baldricks appears to be a weapon dealer. His walls are lined to the brim with all manner of weapons. Yet no guards in sight. Chumhouse which sits in a courtyard has a racist human standing out front. He calls the elven players "knife ears" a derogatory term against elven kind. And an old warehouse called Horus's Leap which seems to have many prostitutes within, with about 30 pirate guards patrolling within. It is clearly not a reputable business among the whore house establishments, given some of the unwillingness of the girls. Seeing this the party debates a bit but knowing they already are on a job and severely outmatched decide to put a pin on dealing with this establishment.   The party continues their patrol, not much exciting happens. The drunks and ill folk seem to stay clear of the well armed party. It is on their third loop as they pass the Old Whore they hear the sounds of a creature clearly not humanoid. Some scouting from Diala with her familiar owl she finds a boy of no more then 15 well eaten and surrounded by 5 clearly undead who seem to be bound by iron manacles. Seeing this the party rushes into action to clear out the undead. It is a tough battle as the parties silvered weapons seem to have trouble piecing the tough skin of the undead. Diala and Jorin both realize this is not typical of undead. They also seem to have some aversion to fire. The party manages to wipe them out however.   Now with the dead now dead again the party searches the bodies and immediate area including the boy that was the undead's dinner. The undead seem to have many scars running across their body that would have been received while they were still alive. The victim is clearly from the slums, his pockets have what are probably his savings. 3 CP and a broken locket containing a picture of an old woman. They also find a bunch of tracks that seem to be from the undead. They lead further into the slums. Rothgar uses a spell scroll of sending and relays as much of this as possible to Alashna Ravonich. The party then decides to track these foot prints. It doesn't take them long and the tracks are easy to follow. They find five damaged burlap sacks near the entrance of the alleyway. As they investigate them, Ganbold realizes that the undead must have chewed their way out of the sacks. He then asks around at the entrance of the alleyway leads to an area with a well upkept gambling den. A strange sight amongst the decay and destitute. Ganbold manages to find someone willing to talk for 5 sp. He informs him that a cart belonging to Chambers Asylum unloaded 5 sacks and dumped them in the alleyway before hightailing it back towards the Eastern District. He couldn't give more info and he didn't care to pry his nose in any farther as in his words "Those who do, end up dead in Scurvytown."   The party updates Alashna Ravonich with another sending spell scroll and they meet up with her as they enter the Eastern District. The paladins and her are able to lead the characters the short distance to the Asylum. Here they find a 2 story stone building that has 2 side wings that form a U shape towards the front of the property. The property is surrounded by a tall wrought iron fence. As they enter and scout out the courtyard. It is clear there is only the single entrance that is the front door. Their are no windows on the first floor and the second floor's windows are all bared with heavy iron bars. The find the front door unlocked, however Ganbold decides to try and kick it in. The iron door is tough and does not want to budge even after a couple good kicks. The party decides to enter normally.   Here they find a large group of Orderlies clearly led by a large burly man who wields a massive hammer made of a material not of steel or iron. Seeing the people clearly dressed for ill repute he orders his men to capture them for their mistress Bianka. Elitessa attempts to pacify them and trick them into letting them through. She manages to convince them that they are here to hand over Ganbold who is currently pink thanks to some magic by Elitessa. The big burly man is confused and wonders if their is any paperwork to back this claim, however with some prodding from Elitessa he sends one of the orderlies to deliver the the message. Now that the orderlies are down a member. The party decides this is a good time to strike, they get the jump on them. They party assisted by Alashna Ravonich and Paladin Knights of the local churches quickly brings down the orderlies. Capturing one of them alive as well as the big burly one. Hanz takes the hammer that weighs a whopping 75 lbs. It is a adamantine hammer with runes carved into the hilt that no one recognizes. They also find a couple bundles of adamantine arrows that Ganbold takes. Also found are 2 potions of healing as well as a large amount of coin.   Now the party must interrogate their prisoners, and learn what might be going on in these stone halls...
