Session 41: The Hidden Dungeon Report

General Summary

The party continues their investigation of the Hidden Dungeon, looking for a path forward, fighting of Troglodytes and even the occasional two headed giant. They quickly find themselves at a dead-end however. The party spends the next 30 minutes combing over the rooms they have already visited in hopes of finding a hidden door. They are successful however just as they get ready to open the door another two headed giant appears within the doorway!   The party quickly defeats him and they push on, they find themselves in a room with an already sprung pitfall trap and two doors. They take the left one and push forward into the dungeon. Coming to a t-intersection quickly they decide to explore the side passage that leads west. Down the passage they come across a sealed entrance. In front an old crowbar that is rusting away. The party decides to open it and explore what is inside. They find a wooden throne within, searching it. They find themselves a small compartment that holds a bit of treasure. They scoop it up and continue on their adventure. As they continue down the hallway they spot a corridor alit with torches and a large double set of doors. As they pass these doors and begin heading towards the alit corridor they are jumped by a two headed giant, and some more troglodytes. The party has no problems fighting them off, and now that they see more doors ahead of them through the double doors. Decide to explore in this direction.   Heading through two more doors they find themselves in a very oddly shaped room with a chained up skeleton, and an extra set of skeleton legs. Jorin investigates the area hoping to find any secrets. Unfortunately for him, the only secrets that lie here is a curse that he finds himself now beholden with! Rothgar quickly dispels the curse and the party decides to move on, not touching any more skeletons if they can help it.   The next room the find that the pathway continues on into another collapsed dead end. However within the room are a couple wells, tossing a rock with light cast upon it, the party tries to figure out how deep it goes. They are roughly able to guess it goes almost 1000 to 2000 ft. Not a small fall if they end up falling into one of these wells. The party decides to head north through the door within this room.   Pushing forward the find themselves in another long hallway with four more hallways branching off it. The first hallway they are ambushed by more Troglodytes and a single Hell Hound. The party fights them off and with a well placed fireball from Diala, they quickly remove the threat. Searching this passage they find old moldy bed rolls and a refuse pile. Nothing that the party is wanting to dig through given the rancid smell coming from it. They quickly find that the second hallway wraps into the room with the refuse pile. They continue to push north to see what the next hallway holds and are quite surprised to see an entire hallway of mirrors. Quite spooky and the party can't help but think it is a trap in some way, decide to explore the fourth hallway first. They find nothing but a dead-end with empty liquor bottles at the end. They push their way through the mirror hallway. Luckily nothing out of the ordinary happens.   The next room offers a room with 11 wells located within arranged in a strange pattern. Weird, and curious. Throwing a rock down one of them they hear it hit water they guess probably another 1000 ft or more downwards. From here the party heads down a set of stairs and pushes east. Passing through a corridor that quickly shrinks down to 5 ft they find themselves in a room filled with sand. Feeling something is amiss Ganbold takes a quick scan of the room, he spots 3 distinct shapes within the sand and he is able to call out in time about the danger. As within are three Otyughs. A dangerous aberration that is often found in sewers and swamps. The party is victorious and they quickly search the area with detect magic and shovels, as these aberrations quite often have treasure hoards with them. The party's search comes up with nothing however and even when checking the stomachs of these creatures. They find nothing of interest.   Time to explore another arm of this dungeon.
