Session 16: To Belong is Peace
General Summary
9th Myrkule 234 4E The dragonborn's body started to heal itself, the gaping wounds now writhing and knitting themselves back together. In this moment of hesitation for the party she wrenched herself free of Willum's grasp, twisting under his tall form, and paced back twice quickly to stand opposite and confronting the party. Her sword hang relaxed at her side. She started to pace along their line, talking of purpose and belonging, answering the party's questions in drawn out, elusive ramblings. Quickly, but still too late, Tawny realised that she was stalling for time. While they had been talking, all of the dragonborn's wounds and injuries had repaired themselves and she now stood good as new. The party swarmed her, collectively pinning and hacking while the dragonborn searched for fatal blows on the ragged adventurers. At last they felled her, making sure to seperate her from her limbs and head and tossing them into the fire. Tawny's dagger was plunged into her torso, it's magic holding back it's rejuventating properties. Meridas sent a message to High-Mistress Gare, warning her of what had just occured and their current plans to delve back into the mines to uncover what was happening there. The reply they got back was rushed and alarmed, with the High-Mistress saying that she would send troops to them. The party headed back into the main cavern, entering into the shaft the strange rock-creature had erupted from. They pushed onwards for much of the day, with the carved mineshaft leading onto a flowing tunnel much like the one they had arrived by. In the darkness they encountered another of the rock-creatures, fighting hard against it as it darted in and out of the tunnel walls and floor, before crushing it's core. They found themselves at the end of the tunnel, where it joined a cavernous void in the earth which dropped for hundreds of yards below the tunnels lip. Several similar openings leading to other tunnels dotted the caverns walls. In the void floated a vortex of rocks and stones, and at it's center a floating island where there stood a hulking monolith of nightshadow stone.
