Maps

  • Glannock
Now a small village, once the port town on Aven Crum. Eighty years ago, a terrible storm came down from the mountains and caused much of the headlands overlooking the lake to collapse. The lake is now larger and lower than it was. Much of Glannock fell into the water, and occasionally still does as the remaining headlands erode. The village is now perched on a high spur between the Bottle and the cliffs overlooking Aven Crum.
  • Bal Mallard
A youngish bustling port town at the mouth of Aven Crum. It came into its own when the lake changed its shape eighty years ago, due to a cataclysmic storm.
  • inland from Malfa
the general region of the Western continent—the northeastern coast is only accessible through Malfa
  • Malfa
A mid-sized port city, founded and controlled by the Maveren
Supporting Cast
  • Alba
The village healer—an older woman, short, slight, and soft-spoken.
  • Billy
A homeless adolescent goblin. Runs errands, legal and illegal, for money; charges you less if he thinks you're cool.
  • Chichi
An anthropomorphic raccoon, about 4.5' tall. She is a mid-level druid, and seems like they’d be a nice person, if they weren’t so exasperated all the time.
  • Clara
Female river dwarf, retired adventurer, and Hal’s ex. She is a swordswoman, and a good sword dancer. She vibed with Timothy over rapier-fighting, and also approves of the Mushroom Monk having taken the piss out of Hal. She warned you about rumours of ghostly doings up the mountain, around Glannock.
  • Elder Colm
One of the elders of Glannock. His silver hair is braided and well kept and his bushy mustache is tapered upwards at the ends. His hazel eyes dart from person to person to random spaces in the air.
  • Ed
A small but sturdy horse, capable of hauling heavy loads over the mountains. 130cm tall at the withers (about 5/6 the size of an average riding horse) but the same stats as a draft horse. Can talk for some reason. Nice guy.
  • Fran
A witch of unknown species (she uses illusions to change her appearance); she lives in a note-perfect witches' cottage, which is in a mushroom circle, which is in a cavern. The cavern can be accessed from at least one place in Malfa where there are no natural caves; there's no telling where it actually is. Fran is very powerful and seems to enjoy playing games with wandering adventurers.
  • Gally
A young, nervous gnome artificer who works at the Piscatorium in Malfa. Essentially a magical civic engineer.
  • Hal Foote
Male river dwarf. Runs the lumberyard in Bal Mallard, and the logging up on the mountain. You have yet to meet Hal (this time, for Tevik) but he’s now the centre of your lives apparently. Everybody you’ve encountered in Bal Mallard so far seems not to like him much. The last time Tevik was in Bal Mallard, he helpfully introduced some fungus to the timber in Foote's yard, thinking, who doesn't like mushrooms? The entire batch of timber was spoiled.
  • Captain Janus
Head of the local guard in Bal Mallard. Looks like the typical career soldier who retired and took up a guard job. He caught you trying to get into the lumberyard, but he took it as a prank. Later that night, you saw him drinking like a fish at the Egg and Feather.
  • Kethel
Kethel (female human) is muscle for the Gentlefellows, the dockside criminal organisation in Malfa. Tall, wiry person, looks like an ex-sea raider. Seems very sharp.
  • Mossevel
A wood-elf senior druid. Lives like a hermit in the forest on the Crommog, the southernmost mountain in the Forges
  • Valdas Nykomin
Maveren recently come to Malfa to rebuild her House's holdings. Elegant, arrogant, secretive.
  • Reggia
Male human, the innkeeper at the Egg and Feather. Middle-aged, prosperous, pleased with himself. Dresses a tad nicer than a working innkeeper would usually. Maybe a little too smooth to be completely trustworthy.
  • Tjeli
A part-elven native of Malfa. Always elegantly dressed in inexpensive clothes. Acts more hifalutin than she is

waking up in Bal Mallard

You're en route to a town named Glannock, looking for a Valdas heirloom called the Valdas Eye. You had a nice trip up the river with Benji and Chichi, landed in the lake town of Bal Mallard, and then Timothy got super interested in mushrooms for some reason. Long story short, you spent the night drinking with the locals and each other, and now here it is the next morning.

Tevik, Örm, and Oswald met in a stable, bonded over a talking horse, and then a lot of things happened very quickly. Now they're occult detectives for the greater Malfa area! They mean well, probably
