Session 16: A Sun as Black as Night Report

General Summary

7 FEB 2020   29 AUG 3024 Ǎ12 36288 Ê1     The party arrived and met with Naw-Ibo. They convinced him to sue for peace between themselves and Black Sun. They met with the Black Sun delegation and laid everything before them. It turns out that Willard that hunted them since episode 1 is really Aethelwold of Black Sun. They want the sword, in exchange they will call off the siege and join them against the threat. Naw-Ibo produces the sword and Aethelwold agrees. He lights the sword, and it hums to life. He notifies Naw-Ibo that one of his generals will accompany the party on whatever mission they are on. -Things wrapped up quickly, at this point I am changing things-   At that he stands to leave, and powers the sword on again, but it fails to ignite. He tries again and it hums to life, only this time the blade is blue. Aethelwold powers down the blade and tosses onto the table in front of Naw-Ibo. He demands an explanation. Naw-Ibo confesses that the real blade is kept in the lower levels of the Citadel. They sent a member below to retrieve it, and he never returned. He apologizes for the ruse, but insists on his honor that the blade will be given to Black Sun. Aethelwold demands that the blade be produced before any alliance is formed. He insists that his man be sent below to retrieve it. He agrees to allow the party to come too, but no Crimson Order members. Naw-Ibo agrees and promises to come to their aid, should Eshkatar attack before the party returns.   The party. plus side kicks gained from the Dwarven fortress, sets off to the catacombs below with a map and instructions on how to retrieve the blade.   The party finds Oren, the missing Crimson order member, dead and two sets of bones at either side of him.   As the party draws near the bones, they reanimate to their former Crimson Order members and attack the party with Phoenix Sabers. After dealing with the threat the party continues, but encounters 4 more reanimated Crimson Order members.   Seren casts a spell and asks Hesh Ra'Ahn, goddess of the grave, what she wants to stop reanimating these bones. The goddess appears before Seren and attacks the party. After a few rounds the Mor'Rahg brothers arrive and help the party. Hesh Ra'Ahn finally retreats, and the brothers tell the party that they have now joined the conflict and are allied with them.   The party is able to retrieve the saber, but continue to suffer attacks from Hesh Ra'Ahn. Kyo gives the saber to Aethelwold and the peace is secured. He will move his men inside the Citadel's walls. Kyo has permanently joined the party.   The session ends with blowing of horns and the beating of the drum. Eshkatar has arrived.
