Session 5: Fort Vigilance Report

General Summary

7 JUN 2019   21 AUG 3024 Ǎ12 36288 Ê1     In the aftermath of the orc attack, the party spent the day and most of the night helping to clean up and secure the area. Late into the night they were given quarters to sleep in.   22 AUG 3024 Ǎ12 36288 Ê1     In the morning they were asked to help unload wagons and secure the fort until reinforcements from Cauldron's Keep could arrive. The caravanners revealed the battle that they waged fending off the Orogs from the wagon train. They lost 5 of their guard, with 4 others wounded. The party has found that there are no real shops here. There is a canteen where food is served, a blacksmith's area, a leather workers tent, and a few other tents - minstrels, and some healers.   Gunners Respect The captain of the caravan, Gunner, expressed his gratitude and amazement at the bravery of the party. He informed them that he will be reporting of their bravery and selfless acts. (Inspiration point for all. Prestige points with Sardar)   Yendaya Backstory The ranger that Yendaya helped to save, Phelan Ward, had information about folks disappearing in the woods. He will visited her before the party left and gave her a special dagger for saving his life. (+3 Dagger)   Druidic Rites: Seren The rangers hold druids in very high esteem. Many asked Seren to perform funeral and other rites for them. She was given many gifts. One of the rangers she helped gave Seren a new quarter staff. (Radiant Quarterstaff)   The Honor Bound: Aldric The rangers asked Aldric for his advice in preparing defenses. He also led a posse to help recover some captives that were taken in the raid. As a gift for returning the captives, he received a new warhammer (Warhammer of Warning)   Aid to those in Need: Clara The people of the village needed help, as many were wounded. There were also some children that went missing. They went away into the forest to hide, but didn't return. An initial search didn't turn up any clues. Clara finds the children, and a widow gave her her husbands mace (Mace of Smiting)   The Ranger's Creed The party has meet with the Ranger commander, Grayson. He briefed them on their upcoming solo journeying:  

Meeting with the Elves: He explained that the elves of the Shira-mar can be very wary of strangers and do not like to speak any language save their own.

Bucar's Mission: He offered to send a ranger, Phelan, with them to the elven outpost.

Hild's Departure: Hild will express her regret at having to leave with the caravan and head back to Sardar. (Bucar is relieved to be rid of her company, and looks forward to getting to know the party better)

Travelers Gifts: He gave the party some horses and a small wagon.

  23 AUG 3024 Ǎ12 36288 Ê1     The caravan headed back to Cauldron's Keep the next day.   The party pressed ahead. Along the path, they noticed unusual vegetation, especially different types of trees.   The elves of the kingdom of Shira-mar are much like the elves of Lothlorien. Their outposts are tree houses, with platforms that link the trees and act as defensive towers. They are about 30' or so in the air. The trees for these outposts are different from the ones in the surrounding forest. They seem to be a type of large oak.   When the party arrived at the first elven outpost, they came upon two watchmen.   Upon meeting the elves, there was an initial meeting with Bucar, but he will insisted that the party be included.   The elven commander, Finrod, briefed them all on protocol inside the elven kingdom. Finrod spoke in common. He also give each of the party a special medallion to wear. This signifies that they are under royal protection.   Language: Inside Shira-Mar the party must use the elvish greeting Suilante (Sooeyl ahnteh)   Orcs: There are more and more orcs patrolling and raiding than normal.     As the medallions are given horns of war interrupt the meeting.
