Broken Obelisk Session 9
General Summary
Session 9: 16-03-2025
Taking a breather after being attacked by the flying devil and freeing Ronaunur from the prison they start looking at the path of stairs leading to the black stone structure. They advance up the platforms checking for traps and magical symbols but miss one of the symbols on the floor of a platfrom next to the structure. Flames ignite in a circle around the platform and rise all the way up to the ceiling of the cavern trapping Bruise inside.
He gets attacked by the winged devil and pulled into the flames where he almost dies if not for Ron who pushes through the flames, pulls him out and helps him drink a healing potion. Meanwhile the rest of the party engages the flying devil with javelins, arrows and spells. Geralt fires 3 arrows into the creature and with a scream it bursts into infernal fire leaving only a breastplate and it's rope behind.
They keep going up the platforms to reach the entrance to the dark fort but set off another trap although Torold quickly heals Bruise who suffers from a poison cloud. Using his divine sense he notices an undead presence inside the structure.
Going into the structure they come upon a chamber lined with cells and has a rack with torture equipment. Trix heads to the cell that contains the undead presence and opens the slide to look into the cell. He stares into a pair of horrific eyes made from deep darkness and feels his heart skipping a beat but pushing through with an iron will he closes the slide. The creature starts pounding on the door which starts to crack under its unnatural strength but they put the pocket plane key into the lock leaving it unable to leave.
Torold and Bruise take up position on either side of the door and take the key out closing the door. It breaks the door down and they feel the same dark magic starting to slow their hearts but they push through and quickly destroy the creature.
Moving carefully over the platforms they encounter a room with some chests in it. They unlock them and find nothing except for a metal tankard and a strange black metal rod. Kaxxa sensing that both items are magical but worried they might be cursed they tip the contents of the chest into the pocket plane.
Going into the last room which seems to be a kind of throneroom and a loud melancholic voice calls out to them: "Have you come to end my miserable existence?" and they see a large man with wings made from white, black and red feathers, ashen grey skin with red streaks and golden eyes with black flecks floating in them. Kaxxa identifies this creature as a Deva but it suffers from Infernal corruption as it has fallen from the Upper Planes of Exsistence. Behind him above the throne, a silvery longsword floats glowing with a subdued radiant light.
