Broken Obelisk Session 13 Report

General Summary

Session 13: 08-06-2025

After a night of drinking Torold and Bruise wake up hungover and exhausted. They drag themselves out of their cabins to go find the others only to discover Ron and Trix are missing.

 

Just before going to bed Torold hears the voice of his sister in his head via the Sending message:

Torold? Please send help. It was horrible and I don't know what to do. Please come home, they took Nancy, hurt Father and killed...

. He moves quickly to find the others but still can't find Ron and Trix but they take Ymari with them. After explaining to the Captain what happened the crew rushes to their stations and plot course to the town of Ampleforth.

 

Torold tries to rest but is unable to catch any sleep and arrives tired, stressed out and exhausted. When they arrive they approach the gates carefully and see a massacre in front of the gates. Bodies of the town guard are dismembered and strewn about with one impaled on the door. They go into the town and meet some of the townsfolk who explain a group of masked humanoids invaded the town pushing into the mansion on top of the hill.

 

The party finds the mansion in a state of lock-down but upon seeing Torold they let them inside. They find the bodies of the elite Glyphguards but they see some of them are still alive. Upstairs Lord Cherdante Terramourn lies in bed wounded from the attack with Lady Zorhale Terramourn besides him. They explain this group of assassins showed up to find a wizard by the name Trix and will hold the child hostage until they get the wizard. There is a short note that was given to them:

 

Bruise recognizes the emblem of the Zhentarim and knows the location of the Moonstone Mask in the city of Neverwinter. Meanwhile Torold goes to find his siblings in their chambers and find the body of his brother, Telamon. The other twin is standing solemn in a corner wounded and uncharacteristically silent.

 

They spend three days burying the dead and grieving before setting out to the city. In order to keep a low profile they land in the water and pretend to be a regular ship and Kaxxa puts on a show of powering the ship with spells. Entering the harbor they travel to the portal of the Moonstone Mask, a large structure build upon a floating island above the Chasm. Kaxxa has disguised himself magically as Lord Terramourn and convinces the Moonstone Servant that he can enter. They're lead into a portal and received by a servant inside who leads them through the hallways to a private feasthall and sits them at a table in the corner.

 

They order food and drinks and hours go by without any activity. Kaxxa gets a glimpse of a masked figure staring at him from above in the gallery. A few hours later they start feeling strange and the room starts spinning. Suddenly they're attack with crossbow bolts by strange shadowy figures. A battle ensues and Bruise charges into one of the assassins in a rage he launches a furry of blows and slices hims in half. Kaxxa, Torold and Ymari attack another through blows and divine magic they dispatch the assailant quickly. Seeing another up in the gallery they find mechanisms that can extend a ladder to the ground floor. Cornering the last masked assassin they surround him but he disappears in a poof of mist to the other side. Ymari uses her magic to teleport herself and Torold over and they capture him.
